Once we were in the proper type of room our vacation was wonderful, a blissful combination of doing things on site or short trips. Upon arrival, the front desk informed us of "an overbooking problem" we would be in a rear garden unit, not oceanfront. This was a concern, esp for future as 2 other guests at time of visit mentioned the same. Also massive onsite addittional rooms, not clear if plan to add more restaurants, pools etc.

Stayed at Dreams Tulum 2-24 through 2-29. Fabulous time. Lovely hotel with two very nice pools--and right on the water. The beachfront--while not huge--wasn't at all crowded. They have these very nice grass skirt type umbrellas. Even on a hot day 94 degrees, the beach had a lovely cool breeze that made the temp very pleasant (and I hate when it's too hot.) Service was terrific overall--very friendly and helpful. Servers come on the beach and bring little fruit cups and take drink orders. Restaurants are very good; but come early if you want to eat at one of the specialty restaurants. We had to wait 2 hours before we could eat at the Thai restaurant. Our kids--almost 8 and 11 weren't interested in the kids club, but it looked like a great place for the 8 and under set. Bottled water is plentiful. By accicent, I drank the water and lived to regret it. Trip down from the airport was much longer than expected...about 2 1/2 hours. Took 1 1/2 hours on the way back.

Ideally situated between attractions. We biked to Tulum ruins and $7 cab ride to Xel-Ha. Great variety of foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

This hotel was more than we expected it to be. The food was wonderful! It was great to actually be waited on no matter where we were (beach, pool, or in the restraunts). We especially loved the open air theatre on the beach. They even put on Monday night football on the big screen! It was very nice watching it in our lounge chairs under the stars. The staff was great! Lots of activities for all ages. They go the extra mile by providing shampoo, cond. etc, maid service 2 times a day, down to chocolates on your pillow at night. The bike trip to Tulum was fun. I recommend doing that. The gym was nice, good equipment, lots of windows, music, and towels. The beach was clean. You can snorkel right in front of the hotel. They have a trampoline out in the water and a climbing thing. The kids (teens) loved it! The only negative about this place is that it's far away from any towns. We took a taxi into Playa Del Carmen. It cost $39 each way. If they have other properties, I will definitely be staying with them!! The hurricane damage was visible in Cancun, but they are rebuilding very quickly. Down in Tulum, it was very minimal. We loved it and had a great trip!! 85 and sunny every day!

We really enjoyed our time at this resort. It was just what the doctor ordered. My first impression was that the staff was great. I had read that the rooms smelled like mildew...ours didn't at all, not to mention that the concierge calls you during the first full day to ask you that the room is to your liking and HAD IT smelled funky I am sure they could have done something about it. Plus the hotel manager, a multi-lingual woman from Canada is VERY accessible if you have any real problems. The beach is as beautiful as you can imagine, I kind of wish there were more pools but I think they are in the process of building another. They have waitresses that patrol the pools and beach to get you whatever drink you wanted. And, if you didn't want to wait for the waitress, you could walk up to one of 4 or 5 bars that are open pretty much all day and get one yourself. The food was good, not great, but certainly not "poor". There are plenty of chairs for lounging at the pool and the beach. The negatives: There were a few woman that sunbathed topless which to me seems quite selfish given that there are kids around. It was pretty obvious to most everybody that this wasn't a topless-type beach but I guess some people don't care about that. The vendors that the resort brought in to sell crafts etc. were quite pushy. If you showed the slightest bit of interest in what they were selling they wouldn't leave you alone. It rained almost every night (Not the resort's fault obviously).

Hotel and beach are wonderful! Accommodations very nice, but room was a bit small. Food was great with something for everyone. We really liked the movies for kids in the evening; great way for them to wind down and the parents got to have a quiet dinner while the kids were in the theater. Activities are poorly presented and timed. We wanted to windsurf, but never seemed to be able to find the windsurf shack open and/or staffed. They never seemed to be open when the signed stated they would. This was frustrating.

This hotel is pretty good overall...Liked the hacienda style. 1 1/2 hour drive/ride from Cancun. 2 miles from Tulum. Great beach location - tranquil and quiet. Beautiful white sand beach with great swimming access. Ocean view from pool. Service was excellent, food was fair - nice presentation, mediocre taste. 24 hour room service was nice feature. Ocean view room was great, highly recommend paying the extra $$ for ocean view. Beds and pillows not too comfortable. A/C wasn't the best. Good selection of liquor & drinks at the 2 hotel bars...only 2 kinds of beer available (XX and Sol). Definitely kid friendly...quite a few children/families and activities for kids. Outdoor movie theater with different movie each night. Resort very clean and well kept. If you are going to be leaving the resort or if you want more "freedom" highly recommend renting a car. Taxis expensive. Roads in area are good, easy to navigate. Lots to explore/see in the area.

All in all we had a great time at this hotel. The food was excellent for an all inclusive resort, the resteraunts were great, we never had to wait. The kids club was great, we felt very comfortable with the kids club staff and they had a great activities program for the kids including a pinata party and a camping night, and movies on the beach with a huge screen. The beds were a little hard, and one downfall is we did develop a case of the Turista, otherwise known as traveler's diarrhea, common when traveling to Mexico. Very convenient to visit the ruins in Tulum and Xel-ha park. The staff was always very courteous and the resort was always kept neat and clean. A great place for a family vacation where you want to be away from town. The kids loved it.

We had a wonderful time at Sunscape. The food was terrific everywhere we ate. The service was impeccable. The location is slightly out of the way, but not only is this location all-inclusive it's also secluded and peaceful. The only thing we would have done differently is to make this a 10 day vacation instead of a six day one.

This was a special annivesary celebration and our first trip to Mexico and the Sunscape Tulum exceeded our expectations. The staff was wonderful and attentive to our very needs. We were very pleased to be located out of the "party atmosphere" of Cancun and Cozemel in a family centered hotel; yet we were in close proximity to all attractions. GREAT hotel and we already plan to return with our son for another visit!
