This was our 1st trip to Hawaii and it was great! We enjoyed great breakfast buffet every morning. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We rented a cabana by the pool for one day and the staff and service was excellent. The hotel offers great resturants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The beach was beautiful. We cant wait to go back!

The hotel was nice and the staff was friendly and did try to do their best. However, the hotel does nickel and dime you so be prepared to pay for any extras such as a beach umbrella at the beach. Further, the rooms are nosey so do not expect to sleep late.

Adult pool, private beach, impeccable service and pristine hotel grounds - what more could you ask for? It has the most character out of any of the hotels in Wailea. The open air lobby is simply amazing. Some things that were a bit disappointing - food was medicore - it could be my San Francisco snobbiness, but was expecting some world-class cuisine here. Also, the wine last was to weep for - the lobby bar had a depressing wine list, so opt for cocktails.

After agonizing over where to stay in Maui - in the West or the South and which hotel...we were extremely happy that we chose the Kea Lani Resort! It was absolute perfection! It was great to have a large clean roomy suite instead of just a small room (or someone's worn out condo) with a large balcony overlooking the beautiful pools and grounds (and we could see the ocean from the balcony)! The small refrigerator and microwave were great for breakfast and light lunches (we took advantage of the nearby Safeway and we saved our money for our dinners). The staff was wonderful and the waterslide provided tons of fun! The weather was warm and sunny in South Maui.....rainy and chilly in the West.....We can't wait to go back! It was worth the $$$!

Stayed at the Hotel April 7-13 and really liked it. The all suite rooms is what sold us since we have a 7mo old baby and a 9 yr old. The rooms are large with extra large balcony. They have a dining table and a chaise lounge on the balcony. The food is extremely expensive at the hotel so we went to the grocery store and bought food for some of the meals. Rooms have mini fridge and a microwave. We enjoyed our own breakfast on the balcony. The hotel buffet breakfast is really good though. If you have kids you should request pool view or a room that is ground floor so you can walk straight to the pool. We had quite a hike with our location. Also ask for a refurbished room,we moved after the 1st night to one. Beach and pools are perfect. The hotel is very clean and beautiful. great area of South Maui. Bathrooms are fabulous. Rooms have 2 T.V.s & stereo which was nice. Worth going to and will go back next year. Had a great time.

After reading all of the great reviews on this site, I was a little afraid of getting to the Fairmont and having a let down (sometimes our expectations can get a little to high), but I can tell you this hotel didn't let us down. Our room had a view overlooking the pool, which was beautiful, and the ocean. The rooms were very clean and all of the staff was extremely friendly. This is a first class hotel and the next time we travel to Maui, the only place we'll stay is at the Fairmont. One tip, join the Fairmont Club. You can do this at their website and it's free. We originally booked a partial ocean view room, but when we checked in, we were upgraded to a full ocean view at no extra cost.

The Kea Lani Hotel was a hotel between the 4 and 5 star class. Its not quite a 5 star but its definately a 4.5. We loved the staff as they were very professional. The rooms are great with an ocean view. Each room has a very large balcony that you can eat your breakfast on each morning. The beach staff was great. We loved the shops and spa, especially Nick's Fish Market located on property. Overall I would grade the overall expierance an A.

I can only say great things about this hotel. I felt like I was the only person staying at the whole resort. Every staff member was very professional and nice, the accommodations were wonderful, and the service was over the top. I have never been so satisfied with any other place more than the Kea Lani. I guess the term "you get what you pay for" goes a long way.

My husband and I spent our 15th wedding anniversary at the Kea Lani. We had stayed before, 5 years earlier. We were very satisfied with our stay. We requested a renovated room and were given one. However, the view from the renovated room was the parking lot. After speaking with the manager and and Expedia rep, we were moved to an "older" room with a beautiful view. Although the "older" room was somewhat worn, it was clean and comfortable. The hotel grounds are beautiful. We spent time by all three pools and enjoyed each. We had exceptional service by the adult pool and were always pleased with the afternoon pineapple and cold towel delivery. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel very much and look forward to returning.

All I can say is this...Your walking up to check-in and you see an excellent breathtaking view of the ocean as they are welcoming you into the Kea Lani with wonderful hospitality. The staff was always very polite and accommodating. There are three pools for different speeds, the beach is very nice and hardly a lot of people. Off this beach are great places to snorkel, theres a great reef to the right where we saw two huge turtles (Honu). Loved the location of this resort it's in the southern part of Maui in Wailea which was close to Kihei Town for shopping, Souvenirs, surfing rental, dining, and of course the closest Starbucks. Our suite was excellent and we were able to walk out from our room through the sliding glass window to the pool with the swim up bar. The drink Long Paddle Out or In is my favorite. Of course all this does come with a price but it was totally worth it for us, being that it was our honeymoon! It was unbelievable!

From the time we arrived, to the time we left the Fairmont, we were in complete paradise. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The activities coordinator helped us plan the perfect excursions. We couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon! Cafe Ciao was our favorite restaurant at the resort, but everything was spectacular! The hotel is beautiful and is very conveniently located. The pools and beach were exquisite! We are already planning on when we can return!

My husband and I were there for a vow renewal and 2nd honeymoon. It was undeniably beautiful. We feel obligated to caution travelers about the sheer volume (number and sound) of children that were there, including at the pool bar. We have 2 children of our own, and love them dearly, but we had an impossible time of trying to get away from everyone elses kids! Even from our room we heard them clearly ALL day playing in the pool. In addition, drinking water was difficult to find, as well as, a morning Bloody Mary or Screwdriver. Very rarely were we offered poolside service which was quite a surprise. It's definitely a "find-what-you-need-on-your-own" 5 star hotel. More than a little disappointed in these respects.

The hotel service is excellent. The only negative is that the meals and drinks in the hotel restaurants are quite expensive. The town of Kihei is close by and the restaurants there are quite good with reasonable menu prices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I recommend the K.K.O., Marcos, Stella Blues as they have good menu selections for all tastes.

The Fairmont Kea Lani is a great hotel. Friends of ours had stayed there and gave us a strong recommendation - we were not disappointed. The service is outstanding - the valets literally run to get your car for you and the concierge, activities desk people are very helpful. The rooms are clean and huge (bigger than my apartment) - I recommend a full ocean view, it's worth it. I also recommend eating at Nick's Fishmarket, the hotel's restaurant which is considered one of the best in Maui.

Fairmont is an awesome place! We had the "garden view" suite, it actually had an ocean view just above the garden! And it's a real "suite", with separate living room, huge tub, separate shower, beautiful view from balcony...etc. Everything was 1st class except the concierge. She was completely useless. She referred us to horrible restaurants, cheesy luaus, etc. Just ask the valet guys or the waiters where to go!

Positives:Rooms were spacious, clean, particularly the bathrooms which were huge. Ocean view was spectacular.Had a great meal with 5 star service at Nick's Fish Market.Grounds were immaculate.Feedback for improvement:The staff was competent, but not overly welcoming. It felt a little like the times we've of stayed in Las Vegas...the employees were a bit jaded, and with some of them, gratuities were the primarly focus. Given the cost we would go somewhere else next time.

We stayed at the Kea Lani with our two kids, ages 6 and 9.The occupancy while we were there Dec. 3-11 was about 40%, a great time to visit. We had reserved a pool cabana for the week, but it was unneccesary as it was never too crowded at the pool. The rooms are perfect for families, as they are all suites with refrigerators, microwaves, DVD etc. The resort is beutiful and the kids loved it.The renovated rooms are nicer, but the wing that is renovated doesn't have the best views of the ocean. If you are staying in a non-ocean view room, then request one. Ours wasn't renovated, but it was still nice. The new ones just have new carpet and more contemporary (but identical) furniture. The Wailea area is much nicer than Kaanapali,is less crowded and has better weather. The service at the hotel was excellent. Everyone was very accomodating, and the restaurants are great as well. We will stay there again.
