The smaller hotel was great, not the big crowds of people waiting for the elevator, never waited once for it!! The door man was great, had to bring our van in and out, moved our daughter to Chicago for college, and they were great!! The breakfest every morning by the elevators was very nice, great pastries, juice and coffee, and the nite time happy hour, with top shelf drinks and munchies, cannot be beat!! The room was very nice, the bathroom, was nothing special but overall clean and modern for the total appearence of the room. Close to everything in Chicago, luved the location!! But no views from the room, just Harry Carey Restaurant, which was right across the street, but that did not bother me, liked sitting in the window and watching people, overall, I would return!!

Great room, great service, knowlegable and helpful staff. The room was one of the cleanest, nicest ones I have been in. Continental breakfast was great and the location is within easy walking of the mile, Millenium Park, and the L. Easy to find and a great value compared to some of the others I checked out before choosing Amalfi. Would stay there again for sure!

This place was GREAT! The staff was very friendly and helpful. A friend and I went to Chicago just to see Oprah and were unsure about the surroundings because we had never been there before. We felt safe the entire time and everything was close. We could walk to Michigan Ave and the Hancock building as well as the El train which we took from the airport. We loved this place.

My boyfriend and I are from NYC and decided to head to Chicago for a few days. We picked the Amalfi from Expedia b/c of the great deal they were offering. The hotel was fabulous! The rooms are beautiful, clean and extremely chic (Instyle and GQ were displayed on the table). We had a master king sized bed (HUGE) that was beyond comfortable. One of the best perks of this hotel was the great continental breakfast served on each floor. Delicious pastries, muffins, fruit and juices. Breakfast was served from 7-9:30 AM and we would get there by 9:15 and there was still plenty to go around. Another great perk was the complimentary cocktail hour (or hour and a half to be exact). Everyone was beyond curteous and friendly. The hotel is also located about 2 blocks away from the Magnificant Mile and 4 blocks away from the El train. There are no vending machines inside the hotel but there's a 24 hour 7 Eleven right around the corner. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel in a second!

Great location, excellent staff, many extras. I was very satisfied with this hotel. It is located in the central part of town, walking distance to many attractions. The L Line is only two blocks away and is a convenient method of travel. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Amalfi offers a good value for your dollar. What is not so good is the sterile lobby and the way you check in. Also the fact it does not have a hotel bar. Nor it's views from the rooms. What is good is the 2 hour happy hour...which is more than expected -the appetizers are elaborate. Plus, the breakfast set up on each floor is very nice...so if a nice lobby and a hotel bar are not on your most important list, the Amalfi is a good bet.

The bathrooms aren't quite what we expected. Though clean, they lack features one should have in a luxury hotel. They don't have either ventilation or heat lamps, and the soap dishes in the shower don't prevent bars of soap from sliding off. This was acceptable at the heavily discounted rate we paid, but not for rack rates.

The hotel room is good and clean, it impresses everyone. Also the wi-fi internet connection is superurb. And also it loacated in heart of downtown , so most of the resturant are in walking distance. Only problem was the things like plate kept outside the room, they took there own time to clear them.

This was a fantastic place to stay! We spent Memorial Day weekend there and were very impressed with the friendly staff and the upkeep. The free breakfast was really good and is served on each floor, rather than in one location - great idea! Ghirardelli chocolates on pillows as a part of turn down service. :) Location was terrific - 15 minutes to Navy Pier or the Sears Tower on foot. Will stay there again!

I lived in Chicago for 4 years and was not familiar with the Amalfi. Read some of the other reviews and felt it was worth a shot. The other reviewers didn't let me down. Great hotel, great service and very clean and modern rooms. This isn't the hotel to stay in if you want city views, but other than that, it has to be one of the best in Chicago. Walking distance to Michigan Avenue.

I've stayed at many of the Hotels in downtown Chicago, and this was my first stay at the Amalfi. I was pleasantly surprised at what this hotel had to offer! Excellent service, comfortable rooms - the complimentary cocktails were top notch, not to mention the continental breakfast. We will be adding the Amalfi to our Favorite Chicago hotel list, and already have booked another stay for an extended weekend this summer.

Staff seat you to check in, and "welcome" your return after a long day. Everyone says hi and asks if they can assist you. A smorgrasbord of breakfast foods for your floor. Social time and cocktails. Chocolate dipped strawberries in the lobby. Heaven.

Nice hotel, but be careful which side of the hotel your room is. On one side it's traffic noise, on the other it was loading docks and trash pick-up at 12AM! Although most of the staff was great, the person in charge of valet parking was very rude. For $35/day parking, one deserves to be treated better! I booked AND PAID for two nights but moved after the first because I was sickened by how valet treated me. Happy-hour was nice, staff at happy-hour was great, continental breakfast was convenient, manager was great.
