We wanted a hotel that was right on the beach, close to shopping and restaurants and we got exactly what we were looking for. The rooms are basic, but clean and light. The complimentary upgrade to a ocean view room gave us a fabulous view of Diamond Head. The lobby at the rear of the hotel exits directly onto a sand beach - we typically made it 20 feet past the door before finding the perfect place to sunbath. Starbucks in the lobby is open early if you want to enjoy coffee on the beach and watch the sun come up.

Service, etc. was good and the hotel had lots of activities if you wanted to participate. Our room was small with two double beds. Friends of ours had a bigger room with King Size bed. If you stay here insist on a room with a King Bed and my guess is you will end up with a nicer room.

Nothing bad to say. Great Location, great service, decent room, and a friendly staff. Only thing that we were disapointed with was the Fitness Center.

We never once were served drinks while at the pool. Also the hotel is more worried about asking you to see the Fairfield timeshare than they are about service. For the money I would next time around stay at the hotel across the street or any of the less expensive hotels in that area.

This hotel is great. The restaraunts within it are nice. It is within a nice distance of everything. The hotel staff is fantastic, they have a desk that you can get lots of info from. As the name says, it is right on the beach. The room that we were in was very nice with a balcony facing the city. The only bad thing is that they have a business partnership with a time-share company. So, there is a desk in the lobby where when you walk by, they ask you to come over and talk to them about buying a time-share. Aside from that, everything about this hotel is great.

I have been coming to Honolulu on business scince 1985 and have stayed at the Outrigger Reef every single time (average 3 times a year w/ a weeks stay) every time I go, I recieve no prepherencial treatment what so ever, ie upgrades ect. So on my last visit I stated my case and frustration.. the manager did give me an ocean view up from a partial veiw (big whoop!) I have a friend that is in Hilton honers program and he recently took his family to Disney world for free W/ honers points so I would recomend because of the location ect. but expect no reward for your patronage!

The hotel lobby is beautiful and check-in was quick. The daily breakfast specials for $4.99 are great. The "standard" room that we booked was old and you could tell it hadn't been updated in awhile. The bathroom counter and fixtures showed wear and the surface was peeling in spots. The bed was not very comfortable at all and was HARD as a rock. The pillows were small and didn't help much. We could have tried to upgrade our room for an extra charge, but we had gotten such a great deal from Expedia that it would have defeated the purpose. The beach at the hotel is good for laying out but not for swimming. There are rocks out in the water and they hurt your feet. The best beach is in front of the Outrigger Waikiki. We did, however, have a great time. Hawaii was beautiful as always.

we recently styed at the out rigger reef on the beach. The location is great, however the rooms are small, the bathroom a little grungy. It is very busy in the lobby with tons of people coming & going. The Shorebird food is good, especailly the mahi sandwich, the service was not great. The mai tais are way better at Buzz's restaurant right around the corner. The most annoying things about the hotel were the time share people and the way even the towel people try in a very pushy manner to sell you something. It was so obnoxious! Lastly hte beach in front of the hotel is filled with very large very sharp rocks- if you do stay here I advise walking to the right a little ways where you can still rent umbrellas but the beach isn't dangerously rock filled. by hte way we took a stroll to the hilton down the way and it looked soooo much nicer!
