| The Congress Plaza Hotel is located in a great spot in Chicago, so I was happy with that. However, I was very dissatisfied with the room. The carpet was the worst, a beige that showed all of the dirt and stains. There appeared to be several blood and/or fluid stains are the carpet and made it very uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. The room I stayed in appeared to be run down. It was smaller than I anticipated and was in need of a facelift. The minimal contact I had with the staff was pleasant.

| Though the hotel had historical appeal, the rooms were small and the hotel was rundown. They tried to cover the the damage with surface cover, but the appearance was easily noticable in daylight.

| This is an older hotel in downtown Chicago with a variety of rooms from small to suites. The hotel is old so not many modern conveniences are available, just basics. The support staff is very efficient.

| I loved the old world feel of the hotel. Iron work on the stairs, huge molding/woodwork in the rooms, a pedestal sink with original mosiac tile in the bathroom. Very cool. You felt like you were in the 1920's!I would not recommend the hotel restaurant breakfast buffet. WAY TOO expensive for crunchy eggs, soft melon and weak coffee!

| This hotel has a great location and was very inexpensive. I would not rate this a luxury hotel, but it felt safe and was clean. Outdated is probably a good way to describe the room compared to chain hotel and newer construction. You can't beat the location. A Hilton is 2 blocks away for your morning coffee. Lengthy walk to the museums, but doable and through nice park. I did it in the rain, so with good weather would be a pleasure. Bus runs along Michigan Ave. for easy transportation.

| The service personnel were on strike at the time of my stay so only one restaraunt and the bar were operating. The hotel is an older hotel and if you appreciate the older style you will appreciate the hotel. The price because of the strike was reduced and the location was excellent.

| The location of this hotel is great but it is so scuzzy in appearance and the carpets are so stained in common areas and in rooms and paint is peeling off the walls that you are always "waiting for the bugs to appear" - none did. This could be a fantastic place but it needs extensive renovations and upgradesAlso very poor and expensive to work on the computer.

| I would recommend it to other with the statement , it is clean and the service is fine but the rooms are very outdated and dingy. The price is good and location is great. The Hotel Lobby is impressive with old world charm but it is not smoke free. The elvators are old and dirty and need to be refurbished. Room was spacious but very old and outdated with a old fashion dial TV. The bathroom was clean but in need of much repair and water pressure in sink was not existent.

| At the Congress Plaza Hotel if you pay the bargin price, you get the bargin room. Its a very rustic stay. As someone who is accustomed to older New York City style hotels, I was fine with the congress plaza. The desk service was nothing to write home about, but they were quick in getting what I needed. The room was clean, but "old" for a lack of better terms. The carpet was clean, but had some older stains on it. The bathroom was definately a classic. I am not sure how the other more upscale rooms are, but the bargin rooms are definately not for the conessuier, but for the budget minded travler, if you can get the expedia price, its well worth it. The hotel is situated right downtown across from Grant Park. The L is right in back of the place, both the brown line and the red line. Very handy. The hotel could use a remodeling, but it still has its classic charm to it and the service is fine unless you are used to five star hotels.
