Features
What to expect: The soft splash of the surf against the perfect beach, birdsong, plumeria scent, gardens of blossoms
and utter tranquility. Amenity highlights: The beach in front of the resort comes complete with a built-in umbrella: A large tree overhangs the sand, offering plenty of shade for many people to snooze in without disturbing their neighbors. Insider tip: A half-mile south of Hale Pau Hana Resort is a beach of a different sort, a long, uncrowded stretch of sand called Keawakapu Beach. Next to the beach is a public parking lot. Signs point the way to the beach, which offers great snorkeling along its rocky northern terminus, terrific boogie boarding when the tradewinds blow, and long, tropical-fantasy walks. (Buildings along the beach seldom exceed palm-tree height, somewhat preserving the illusion the beachfront is undeveloped.)
Numerous dining opportunities exist along South Maui's Sun Coast. Among restaurants favored by locals and visitors alike are: Five Palms Beach Grill - A few minutes drive from Hale Pau Hana Resort in the Mana Kai Resort, this restaurant consistently earns acclaim for its food and romantic oceanside setting. Brunch is served from 8 AM to 2:30 PM daily on the shaded outside terrace. Linen-service dinner takes place inside under ceiling fans in a plantation-type setting. Both feature local ingredients prepared with award-winning finesse. Joe's Bar and Grill - Located in the Wailea Tennis Center a 10-minute drive south of Aston Maui Hill, Joe's is owned by former Kingston Trio member Joe Gannon and his chef-wife Beverly. Open for dinner only, Joe's specializes in local seafood, steak, and prime rib.

| This was my first visit to Hawaii & I had the best time of my life. The trip was a bit overwhelming in scope, but everything turned out wonderfully. The check-in desk was supposed to be closed when I arrived, but it was unexpectedly open & the desk clerk was very friendly & helpful. The maids were very prompt and had no problem providing me with extra towels despite the rule that no extra towels would be provided outside of the towels given to you every other day. The condo was in good & quite reasonably clean condition & I was provided with a lot of extra things to use which included beach mats, candles, a library of books, etc. The condo was located right on the ocean, so every night I would either sit on the lanai or relax on a lounge chair just above the beach and watch the tide come in. There were also many stores and restaurants around which was very convenient because I didn't have to drive around just to run a simple errand. I would certainly stay here again if I stayed in Kihei because the location is convenient enough to everything I ended up doing during my stay & the condo was very satisfactory. I did find a tiny lizard running around in the condo mid-way through my stay which apparently got in somehow through the screen door, but since I fell in love with him at first sight I was a bit dismayed to never see him again. I only hope he enjoyed his stay as much as I did. :)

| We chose a condo to give us the flexibility of preparing some of our own meals to save money. So glad we did. I picked Hale Pau Hana based on write-up and other reviews. We stayed on 1st floor just steps away from the pool and down the steps to the wonderful beach. (check out the live webcam on their home page)Perfect for a family of 4. We had the master bedroom w/bath and our daughters had 2 daybeds in living area and the 2nd bath. Full kitchen (stove, microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher, fridge, blender, utensils & pans).Everything worked.Quiet location and meticulous grounds. Foodland grocery store discount card on your room key. Shops(souvenir & supplies) & eateries across the street. They were preparing to renovate the parking lot a few days after we left. Snorkeling just off the beach (to the right around reef off the rocks, use a pool noodle,go in a.m. for best views and don't go alone)

| We truly enjoyed our stay at this condo. Our room was on the end of the 5th floor so we had a wonderful view with corner windows. When we checked in, the hotel and surroundings looked a bit worn and even the elevator looked ragged but once we got to our unit it was like a total different atmosphere. We definetly would go back to this resort.

| So close to the ocean we were lulled to sleep by the sound of the tide rolling in. Wonderfully stocked kitchen..we needed for nothing. Grills oceanfront..so you can buy fresh fish and cook in..saved us a lot of money. The grounds are very well maintained. Only downfall to younger couples..as we were on our honeymoon..it is an older community..mostly retirees..but it was very laid back and perfect for a week of relaxation!

| We stayed at this hotel based off of other reviews we read on Expedia about the hotel. It is true - the beach is "BAM" right there! All rooms in this condo-style hotel are ocean view! There are bars, shops and restaurants across the street. Though this is not a 5-star, I would choose this over one any day for the beauty, convenience and relaxing atmosphere.

| This is the best place to stay if you're looking for quiet condos. Awesome beach access to a gorgeous beach, centrally located, and beautiful rooms. We weren't looking for the large resort with waterfalls and swimming pools. This place was like our own home. Try to get a first floor beach front room, not one of the rooms in the high rise.

| If you're looking for a straight out beach experience on Maui, this is a great place. All the rooms are facing the beach (no "Garden" views) and just yards away from the surf. The location is great for getting to most places on the island and ideal for boat trips as the Kihei boat launch is just a minute's drive away, which was handy for us. While ground floor rooms are great for getting to the beach fast, your lanai is right on the common area so you lose some privacy.

| Very nice place to stay if you are looking for a home away from home. We felt like we were staying in an apartment rental. We had our own kitchen and a beautiful view. The front of the building through us off, but once in the room it was great. The beach was right there snorkeling was very good, my only wish was for a hot tub, but that was not a big deal with such a great beach right there.

| This is a great condo with the amenities of a hotel. On site manager friendly and very helpful. Maid service very freindly and hard working. Each room faces the beach. I recommend the first floor condos if you just want to walk out your patio door and step to the pool, beach or just barbaque. I can not wait to go back. We stayed ten nights and it just flew by.
