Freedom Paradise - Riviera Maya All Inclusive Amenities
The majority of amenities, activities, and gratuities at this resort are included in the room rate; guests will not be charged extra for the majority of amenities and activities (scroll up to the All-Inclusive Details section for more information). Located 98 km (61 miles) from Cancún International Airport and 4 km (2.5 miles) from the Tulúm ruins, this hotel lies along a white-sand beach in an area that once served as a Mayan ceremonial center and holy tankah or “place of free souls.” This location defines the hotel’s emphasis on the area’s nature, history, and culture. Members of the hotel’s ecological and cultural department introduce guests to local natural phenomena with activities that include bird feeding on the beach, tours of cenotes (natural freshwater pools with underwater caves and caverns), and tours to see “water eyes,” which are non-salty water flows in the ocean. The hotel walkways feature signs with pictures and explanations of the area’s birds, iguanas, fish, and other creatures. The hotel encourages relaxation and spiritual fulfillment with classes in yoga, tai chi, meditation, Mayan oracles, and essences of wild flowers. Other amenities include four walk-in swimming pools; two are used for activities, one has a swim-up bar, and the smallest is favored by honeymooners. Snorkeling is popular in the protected area between the beach and the coral reef just offshore. A tennis court allows daytime play. Under the shade of palm trees on the beach, guests can enjoy massages (surcharges) from private vendors. A shop in the hotel sells souvenirs, gifts, and newspapers; it provides one computer for rent, with high-speed Internet access (surcharge). A wedding chapel based on a Mayan palapa or conical, thatched-roof design can be booked for ceremonies. A doctor is on call.

| Great place to stay if you want quiet and away from it all.I must say service was lousy,it took 2 days to get toilet paper from service desk, and the food is edible but lots of pasta. Not what I want to eat in Mexico.Coral reefs are a swim away for all you snorkerlers.

| My husband and I with two teen age daughters stayed here 6-25-06 for a week. The beauty of the location is all that saved this trip for us. The management at this hotel is absurd. Several days in a row, electrical and water outages. Very inconvienced while trying to enjoy our "fabulous" vacation. The scenery was gorgeous, stayed at the beach for 8 hours one day while the elec. was out. Go to Coba ruins, and climb it. Then a quick swim in the local Cenote was a once in a lifetime experience. Luckily the elec came back on in time to sleep each nite,(how odd). I will come back to this area, just not this hotel.

| We spent one night here on August 6th. We were very happy to be allowed in our room when we arrived earlier than check in time. It was a pleasant stay. The rooms are beach front or balcony overlooking the beach. The second story rooms have hammocks on the porch. The rooms were basic with tile floors and yellow mexican tile in the bathroom, shower only no tub. We particularly enjoyed making the room very cool as we had been camping before our arrival here. The resort has a large beach area and the water was beautiful blue and clear and shallow quite a ways out. We only swam but there were people snorkeling. The food was good, not 5 star but great value for the price. There is just one bar area on the beach by the pools but the hotel wasn't terribly crowded so there was no problem with getting drinks. We were glad we brought insulated mugs to have our drinks put it, not because there was any problem getting another drink, but because they kept the ice from melting, and the staff was happy to fix our drinks in our own mugs. The pools were not huge like some places but there was plenty of room for everybody. It is a solid three star resort and seems like a great place for kids. I would especially recommend this hotel to families looking for a quiet place with great value.

| The hotel was rated at 3 stars, I would have not given any stars. The lobby is OK, the room I expected was not given to me upon my arrival. The bed sheets were not changed daily, the water from shower and faucet was brakish water,(salt/fresh water). Front desk staff friendly, other staff not so friendly. Pool water cloudy, beach full of ocean debris. I would never go back to that hotel.

| no complaints whatsoever! we were on honeymoon, and this was just what we were looking for. it seemed more homely than some other hotels on the coast, which were huge sprawling country club type things. maya tankah is a bit more authentic. nice and quiet, so if you just want to relax by one of the pools, or on the beach, have a drink, read, chill....this is the place.

| Freedom Paradise is aptly named - it is paradise and while there you are free from all the worries of the world. The resort is family friendly - no disco, no "party animals" and no contrived activities. Just a fantastic beach (we collected over a dozen pounds of shells and coral fragments), good snorkling and lots of attractions (cenotes, eco parks, ruins and diving sites) very close. There are two parts - Colonial and Carribean - and having stayed in both, we prefer the Carribean. The grounds team with Iguanas and birds, the staff is very friendly and the food is excellent (it has a definite "mayan" flavor). There is a specialty resturant open five evenings a week (reservations needed) where the food is truely mayan with a french flair. Most guests are from Europe and most are gone duirng the day diving, exploring ruins or the nearby eco parks. We have been there twice in the last six months, and will go back before the end of the year.

| The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. If you are looking for nightlife or gourmet cuisine this isn't your place. But if you want a relaxing vacation on a beautiful beach surrounded by friendly and interesting guests then stay at Maya Tankah.

| My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for a relaxing and romantic vacation. We would definitely go back. The food was good (except at the 2nd restaurant, Cielieto Lindo, the food was too salty), the room was clean and comfortable, the staff was extremetly friendly, and the location was absolutely beautiful. Don't miss snorkeling at the cenote (10 minute walk and $1 to get in, the hotel provides the gear for free!). The nearby ruins are also amazing. We made friends with the activities coordinator, and she took us out salsa dancing in Playa del Carmen one night! You don't get waited on hand and foot, but we didn't want that anyway. I would definitely recommend it.
