The Fairmont Palliser Amenities
The Fairmont Palliser originally opened in 1914 as The Palliser, Calgary’s grand Canadian Railway Hotel, adorned in oak paneling, marble columns and floors, handmade rugs, and original art. The eight-story building, constructed in the Edwardian Commercial style, displays straight geometric lines that resemble prairie grain elevators, with a distinctive E-shape that allows all rooms to enjoy natural light. The Renaissance-Revival lobby features gray Tennessee-marble floors, columns finished in Botticino and Sylvian marble, a ticket office, a telephone and telegraph bureau, and an elevator hall. The Rimrock, a Tudor-style restaurant with views of the lobby, displays a 38-foot mural by Banff artist, Charles Beil, and fireplace that warmed former Canadian Prime Minister R. B. Bennett (1930–35), a frequent visitor. Located on the Boulevard Level, The Canadian Pacific Railway Pavilion—a glass rotunda inspired by late-19th century railway-station design—compliments the hotel’s architecture, and showcases Canadian Pacific’s vintage rail cars. Amenities include The Rimrock restaurant with classic regional cuisine; Sunday brunch in the grand lobby; and a deli. The Boulevard Club offers an indoor saltwater swimming pool, a large spa tub, a steam room, and fitness equipment as well as a salon with hair care, facial and body treatments.

| We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. Staff were very helpful. The inhouse restaurants seemed a little expensive, but the food was excellent.

| We only stayed one night, with family at the end of our vacation. We notified the front desk at check-in, and the staff at the restaurant (when we made reservations that evening) that it was my parents 50th anniversary. They provided a once in a lifetime service, of which I've never experienced before, even at other comparable resort hotels! To top it off, the hotel is exquisitly appointed and the rooms were luxurious. We will definately try another Fairmont property soon.

| We had booked a club room and when we registered on the 8th floor, we were told the room wasn't ready. Instead, we were escorted to a three room magnificent suite. It was exquisitely decorated, spacious and elegant. We were given a tour of the lounge, used the internet to check flight times and enjoyed a lovely evening of hors d'oeuvres before heading out to dinner. The bed was turned down and the room was prepared for us when we returned. To accomodate our very early flight,we were offered a continental breakfast which was promptly delivered to our room at 5:30AM - right after the wake-up call. To everyone at the Fairmont Paliser, a heartfelt thank you.
