| I wish that I could say that we were hapy with our stay at the Braxton, but I must be honest. The people who worked there were 100% kind, wonderful and attentive. But...and this is a "BIG BUT"!!!! The room was not clean. The room next to ours had a smoker in it and the smoke smell at times filled our room. When we first arrived, there was a wet towel on the toilet, and a cigarette butte inside. There was a dead ladybug in our bed...cute as it was (we actually even took a picture of it!). They did not have fitted sheets on the bed (or to offer us) so our faces ended up on the mattress...ick! Also, there was not an ice-machine so our cubes came to us from the backroom freezer...in a ziplock bag. It just seemed funny, and we choose not to use them. I really wish I could say more kind things about the Braxon. With some upkeep and renovation-this really could be a wondrerful place to stay. It just did not feel clean to us. I must end by saying that we did appreciate the charm of the lobby (it was pretty and well kempt)and again the kind people who really were the most redeeming quality and made our stay bearable. Thank you.

| The hotel is fairly old and some distance from the attractions. Had a private bathroom - old but serviceable with hot and cold water. Beds comfortable. Continental breakfast - self-service - fetched downstairs and ate in room as no seating downstairs. Breakfast sufficient for our needs, but nothing special.

| I couldn't find anything else within 20 miles because of a convention in town. I have been to a lot of hotels that were bad, but this was the worst - ever.

| I'm wasn't looking for luxury, but I do want basic conveniences. The electrical system is so old that the outlets were too "loose" to hold plugs in them. Only one actually held a plug, so I had to rotate devices (eg couldn't blow dry my hair and plug in the lamp to see myself at the same time). There was black mold in the bathroom. The door locks were so flimsy I did not feel secure.

| The Braxton Hotel is in an excellent location (five minutes walk from Dupont Circle) but is a hotel in dire need of repair. I was initially given a very inadequate room, with holes in the linoleum, an overly noisy and ineffective air conditioner, and a door that would not stay locked. This was not okay. However, upon complaint, I was given a larger and better room which satisfied me for the price. I stayed here during peak tourist times, however in future visits at other times of the year, I would recommend looking for another hotel. For the season, this was adequate for the money, but only after the room change. The staff were great and accommodating, however. As a side note, I am not a picky traveler, and my criticism is rare, so the first room given to me really was a bad housing option.

| It was the cheapest rate I found and I wasn't expecting much. The room was basic, but very clean with cable tv and a/c. The service was friendly. Great location near a lot of restaurants and cafes. Definitely recommend it for an affordable place to stay in DC.

| I booked this hotel for a business trip on short notice. It was the only hotel available at the time. After I booked it, I viewed some reviews online and regretted my decision. Most of the reviews I read were extremely negative, so I didn't expect much. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find that the hotel was not as bad as people have made it out to be in the past. Perhaps it has improved recently. It's no Ritz Carlton -- it's a pretty old building and in dire need of renovation, but I found that a bit charming. The hotel staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. The bed in my room was comfy and clean, the shower had plenty of hot water (although no outlets in the bathroom) and the hotel provided a complimentary breakfast of bagels, pastries, fruit, cereal, coffee, and juice. The hotel is centrally located and close to a lot of attractions. I walked to the White House from there. It's not the greatest neighborhood, but it's a busy one so I did not feel intimidated. It's also a short cab ride to the airport or a short walk to a Metro station. They upgraded me to a queen bed from a twin bed. Negatives: no elevators, no alarm clocks, no a/c in the hallways, doors lock after a certain time and you have to be buzzed in, club next door is noisy and draws questionable characters, no outlets in the bathroom. I feel that the positive things this hotel has to offer far outweigh the bad, so if you're not a picky person, you'll be fine staying here.

| The hotel is okay for a couple of days. It's a one star hotel. Good water pressure, cleaning room service, AC, cable and television were excellent.

| This is an old building. It looks prety from the outside. The inside views are not as pretty as outside's view. Its lift doesn't work at all time. However, if you just want a bed for sleeping, this is your place.

| When I entered my room and saw an orange extention cord running from under a desk to the bedside lamp, I didn't really have to check out the waterstained bathroom ceiling that was ready to drop on my head or the linoleum on the bathroom floor that was curling up along the edges. I should have checked out on the spot!!
