The only bad thing about the hotel is that the villas (buildings) were far one from the other. Other than it was the best hotel I been to.

The Bahia Principe was one of the best resorts I've ever stayed at! The employees were extremely polite. They always went that extra step to make sure the guests were happy. The room as well as the main lobby, the restaurants, the bathrooms and the grounds were well maintained and very clean. The food was good and there were a lot of choices. The beach was very pretty, the water was warm and there were many chairs available. The pool was always clean. The activity crew made sure that everyone was busy. There were a lot of activities to choose from from water sports to bingo to dancing by the pool. There was nightly entertainment which was good, not great, but there was always something to enjoy. The shuttle to and from the beach was always available as were the beach towels. The only drawback was that the transportation service was poor and picks you up from the hotel to go back to the airport 3 1/2 hours ahead of your flight time so you basically lose your last day and the airport is not very organized. I would highly recommend this resort.

It would be a good idea to know some Spanish. Most of the hotel staff (including the waiters) do not speak English. We found this to be somewhat frustrating.

Overall, this hotel was very nice. The structure, grounds, and common areas were beautful, and the beach was fantastic. There were plenty of lounge chairs and thatched roofed umbrellas available on the beach, and the water was beautiful. Some drawbacks...room cleaning service is extremely slow. Our room was not ready until almost 4 o'clock when we arrived (check-in time is supposed to be 3:00) Also, the maids came daily to remove the soiled bath towels from the room at around 10am, but we did not receive fresh towels until almost 6pm every day, which made cleaning up from the beach and getting ready for dinner a little problematic. The food in the buffets, snack bars, and restaurants was good, but the room mini-bar was sparse. Be prepared for some communication difficulty if you do not speak Spanish. The staff was very friendly and tried very hard to breach the language barriers, but English is not spoken often or well. Also, if you are a fan of water sports, be prepared to reserve the all-inclusive activities such as kayaks, paddle boats, etc very early. Availability is limited and it was not uncommon for there to be a 2 day waiting list for these things. But overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return to this hotel.

My husband and I went for our honeymoon. The resort and staff were very nice. The only negative point is very few staff employees spoke English. Most of the guests were international travelers which was a unique experience for us. However, we enjoyed our stay and will recommend the trip to our American friends.

If you don't choose this resort you're missing an excellent time. We just came back from our honeymoon, everything was outstanding. The pools are excellent, staff and service excellent, beach excellent, the grounds are beautiful, food good to great and drinks plentyful and available everywhere. We are thinking about going back next year.

Rooms are super clean, modern and surprisingly spacious. The resort is big, but well spread out to give you an intimate feeling. Beach is gorgeous. Staff is super friendly, especially if you speak Spanish. Don't be disappointed with some having a laissez-faire approach to their work. Remember you are on vacation! Tips are appreciated, but not mandatory. The food and drink are plentiful. We especially loved the fresh exotic fruits. Breakfast at Orquida is all you need to carry you til dinner, although there's food on the grounds 24hrs a day. Pueblo Principe is a great evening hangout spot to drink and dance salsa, merengue, bachata etc.

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and drink at the hotel. Too much of both was a primary theme of our stay. The room was high quality. The pools were fantastic. One thing that was a little lacking was activities such as shuffleboard and other games.
