Features
What to expect: Built in 1929 as an apartment building, the Hotel Lombardy has retained a comfortable and elegant feel. This boutique hotel is known for outstanding service, but the location is also superb: situated in the Foggy Bottom area, the Lombardy provides easy access to downtown businesses, government offices, and international organizations, and it’s a short walk from Georgetown, Washington’s premiere shopping and dining district. Amenity highlights: True to its name, the Lombardy surrounds guests with the stylish grace of northern Italy. Rooms are furnished in imported fabrics and Oriental wool rugs and just a few amenities include two phone lines, a complimentary copy of the Washington Post, a mini bar, and a coffee maker with coffee and tea. Hotel services include concierge and same-day valet services, one-hour clothes pressing, and a complimentary shoe shine. Insider tip: The Lombardy is an easy walk to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium, both of which regularly host world-class local and touring performances. Ask the staff to arrange tickets to shows at these or other Washington venues.
Café Lombardy - A sun-splashed bistro overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue. Serves French-inspired Continental cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Venetian Room - An intimate lounge with an international flair, the Venetian Room offers a romantic spot for drinks, lunch, or dinner. Room service is also available.

| Many years ago, the Lombardy was probably a great hotel, but it's showing its age. The staff was very friendly, but the rooms are dingy, the hallways are dark and the manually operated elevator loses its charm after you've waited 10 minutes for it to arrive (and finally take the stairs).

| The hotel is excellent. It met all our needs and comfort and walking distance to all we want to see. The only thing, there was no paper towel in the kitchenette, but no big deal. We are not picky people. We will surely stay at the hotel again when we're in Washington DC.

| This was a great hotel. Very unique in the city. Parking is not so great. There are three garages within a block. Cheapest was $15 per day. Hotel offers in and out service for $28. We recommend you do not drive to D.C. if you can avoid it. We never needed the car. We either walked or took the Metro everywhere we needed to go.

| After reading a variety of reviews on this hotel (most glowing, but a few very negative) I had my concerns. I was afraid we would be staying in a tattered old hotel which had seen better days and more importantly, without reliable air-conditioning. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to find the hotel overall, and our room to be beautifully furnished, clean and very cool (we visited DC in late August). Our only challenges stemmed from a few elements characteristic of this historic building: (1) the elevator can only be used with an operator - as a result, we used the stairs quite a bit. (2) there is no ice machine available to guests, ice must be ordered from room service. Other than those minor inconveniences, we found the hotel charming, the staff wonderfully attentive, and the entire stay very enjoyable.

| This is a pretty little hotel, well situated on Pennsylvania Avenue, between Geargetown and the White House. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the entire hotel seemed understaffed. The only on duty valet served as the bellman, the front desk attendant was also the concierge etc... The rooms are clean and beautiful, an you can't beat the location.

| The greeter/doorman immediately made me feel as though I was family returning home. We were 2 women travelling alone and everyone here made us feel so safe. They were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very nice size with refrigerator available and nicely stocked bathroom ammenities. Down comforter and three pillows on each bed, with chocolate placed by housekeeping was a nice touch. Will definitely return.

| I would not recommend this hotel in spite of its downtown location and walking distance to lots of places like GWU, IMF, Georgetown and Dupont Circle. (I used to work one block from the hotel!) The hotel is old, and nothing can be done about it. The a/c vent was blowing hard directly on one of the beds. I was glad I had a choice of two beds so I almost (but not quite) escaped it. The plumbing in the bathroom was terrible, it would either spray you or create very thin unusable stream. They must have painted the room; the paint smell was extremely strong. The elevator is sort of an old manual thing and requires a staff to operate it. I will definitely go with something else next time.

| This is a lovely small, old fashioned hotel that is totally spoiled by snooty restaurant and bar staff. Service for breakfast was dreadful - 'go away for 15 minutes we are busy'...half the tables were empty ---then when we did come back -it took 20 mins to place an order for a nearly $20 Full Breakfast that was cold, and small qtys. Same experience in the bar. Lift attendants are nice though. So, stay here for a nice experience, but eat and drink elsewhere they appreciate customers!
