| I found the George Hotel to be quiet, convenient and very well priced for its location near the airport. I arrived after 11pm to check in, but was treated courteously and directed to my room. Check out the next morning also went very smoothly. The halls were a bit dusty and the floors creaked, in keeping with an old inn, but overall the rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. Overall a very nice place to stay for those on a budget or otherwise.

| This hotel occupies a combination of buildings, the oldest 17th century at its core. The staff was helpful, the rate very affordable, and only a 10 minute cab ride from Gatwick. ATM right outside the front door, and breakfast available for a small consideration. Plan to carry your bags up several flights, though, if you book the most economical room.

| This place is a little out of the way and a bit hard to find. Fortunately we had a car. Its about a 15 minute drive to Gatwick. There were little bugs in the room and there was no AC, so it was pretty warm. But has free wireless internet.

| First of all, I do not know why this hotel has in its name the word Gatwick. It is at least 10 miles away from the Gatwick airport and the city where the hotel is located is called Crawley, and not Gatwick. So, instead of being within a walking distance of the airport I paid around 12-13 pounds for a taxi fare one way. But that is not the whole story. I have no idea why this hotel is rated 2.5 stars because in my opinion it does not deserve more than 1 star. It is by far the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. The room is a kind of some restoration that badly tries to create an old style mixed with dirty old ripped towels, extremely dirty carpet that almost makes you vomit when you see it, and a TV that has only 3 channels. I was fooled by the name Gatwick and I expected to be within a walking distance from the airport. The Location is bad (10 miles away from Gatwick airport and 30-40 minutes away from Central London), the rooms are very dirty and not renovated, and you have nothing to do around, so I do not know why one should stay there. Highly not recommended!

| I wished we had air conditioning in the room or could open the windows. The temperatures inside the building were extremely high!

| Sheets and tub were clean, but rest of room was mangy and beyond tattered. Restaurant on premises stops serving before 9 p.m., tho there are several others choices within steps of front entrance. There is no lift or offer to help drag your bags up all the steps. Taxi from Gatwick was 12 pounds in the evening and 17 pounds in the a.m. (premium charge for early hrs, but if my flight wasn't so early, I wouldn;t need to be here), that 27 pounds would have been better spent on a hi'er qlty room! And I never got to see Casper or friends

| My wife and I stayed at the hotel on our last day of a 10-day visit to the UK. We were flying back home the next day. The hotel is near the airport and was the reason we chose it for our last day after flying back to London from Scotland. The room and general condition of the hotel is old and run down. One of the windows in our room had a broken window pane to which a piece of cardboard was taped over it. The bathtub faucet handle can off in my hand. Worst yet, the floors would creak and every foot movement from the room above us could be heard. The hotel is located within a 15 minutes drive of Gatwick International Airport which is good. It is also within walking distance to many shops and eating establishments in downtown Crawley. We arrive about 5 PM and many of the shops were closing.
