| I stayed 2 nights in June 2006 on business. The main building is certainly charming and full of old world character. The central hall/lobby is the center of activity and the ambiance and services encourages guests to hang out there. Very quiet residential neighborhood, 10 minute walk to Summit train station and then 50 min train to Penn Station in Manhattan. Also 5-10 minute walk to downtown Summit's substantial array of upscale shops and variety of restaurants and cafes. I was given a room out by the pool, I forget what they called this wing, but it is an add-on to the main building. Once you're out there, you could be at any hotel. The outdoor pool is very nice, with many chairs/lounges with sun and shade available. The fitness room is reasonably well stocked but very cramped. My room was comfortable and clean but a bit worn. Nothing memorable, nothing special. I don't know what the rooms in the main building are like. The breakfast buffet was included in the room rate and was typical/forgettable (eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffles - all hot; plenty of fresh fruit, yogurt, danish, breads, juices). I'm 50/50 on staying again or trying someplace different.

| My wife and I stayed at the Grand Summit Hotel this past weekend and were extremely disappointed. First off at our arrival the valet parkers went out of their way to avoid eye contact and acknowledge that we were there. No doorman or bellhop to help with the doors or luggage, and my wife had to speak up at the front desk to get the person behind the desk to acknowledge her for check-in. Our room was one of the more recently refurbished rooms that was done tastefully and though the bathroom was a bit small it was renovated as well. One issue with the bathroom was the cleanliness. The walls around the toilet needed to be cleaned- gross! The bedding is a completely different story- we must have had the cheapest, most uncomfortable mattress ever- worse than my college futon! Fortunately we brought our own pillows since the ones the hotel offers are too thick and too hard. The brunch was okay, but nothing to write home about. You'd be better off walking into town and paying for a decent brunch. One last thing- there is a funky, musty, run down smell about the hotel. I think management needs to retrain the staff, clean the hotel from top to bottom, and get some decent bedding to be called a 4 star hotel.

| My 85 year old father froze because the system just blew cold air when the outside temp was 50. Unexpected in a 4 star hotel.

| Good food, well appointed rooms, clean, good service, would have liked better linens and a softer bed in a 4 star hotel. I would stay here again. Summit is a beautiful town, the hotel is close to NJ Transit for trips to NYC.
