| This hotel was recommended to my wife and I by a friend and we were really impressed. This boutique hotel was charming, clean and overall we had a great experience. The views from this hillside hotel are unreal. Our room had a great veiw of the ocean and the views from the swim-up bar was breathtaking. Do yourself a favor and stay here! It should be noted that the hotel does not have any easy access to the beach. But the beach is only a few minutes drive. We stayed in a junior suite with jacuzzi that overlooked the ocean, it was great. Only minuse, the breakfast was only ok and the bed was not great (but that was the same everywhere in costa rica)

| We truly enjoyed our room at the La Mariposa Hotel. It had a private balcony, floor to ceiling windows, amazing views, and a comfortable space. It was wonderful to lay in bed and watch the sunrise over the mountains. The grounds are beautiful with endless flowers and plants. The view is amazing - sitting in the pool and watching the sunset and enjoying the 180 degree view of the ocean and park is unbeatable! A great place to relax and slow down. The service is less than great. The bartenders and housekeepers are thorough and pleasant. However, we had a lot of trouble with a couple of the front desk attendants (one was more helpful than the others). They were unresponsive and not extremely helpful. We tried to book a tour through them several times. They said "no problem - we'll take care of it," and they did not. We had to constantly check back to make sure things were taken care of. We met other guests who had the same problem. The electricity in our room went out twice - not for long, but it was inconvenient. The front desk was not apologetic. All in all, we would stay at La Mariposa again. We stayed there in November and paid the low season price - not sure I would want to pay the high season price. The view and the beauty are worth it. Just don't expect five star service.
