| The personnel and service of this hotel was spectacular. They were happy to accomodate requests and provide us with an extra bed (Queen-size!) no extra cost. We were upgraded from Deluxe to an Ocean View room without asking or extra cost. The view was spectacular, however we had to look past the lanai which needed some fixing and a good powerwash to remove mold. The olympic size pool and waterslide pool had some mold around the deck, I imagine is difficult to keep clean in that climate. The pool may not have been chlorinated, either--not sure. The kids (7 and 4 years old) had a ball playing on the waterslides (2) and various spa-style pools (none heated like a whirlpool, though). Beautiful woodwork in the entry, but the hotel had seen grander days. The rates were great but it wasn't the most luxurious hotel we've stayed at. The room had a split-A/C unit you could control yourself, beds hard as cement (Japanese style) but otherwise habitable. I would recommend this hotel for someone who doesn't require absolute luxury, doesn't plan on staying at the hotel for entertainment (except a little swimming) or dinner. If you are divers like us, you would rather spend your money on diving!!

| If you go to Palau to Dive, like 90% of tourists do, then Airai View is too far from town - most dive shops won't pick you up out there. You'll need a rental car (extra 45usd a day) and you'll need to find your own breakfast. If you want to relax in a secluded/far-away-from-it-all-location, and aren't too picky about meals, AVH might be just what you're looking for. There is an impressive water park there, and the delightful (mostly Balinese) staff will activate all the pumps for you if you ask. The hotel looks like it was very fancy in around 1960/1970, but probably only maintained (not really improved) since then. Overall, not a bad hotel, just not an ideal location if you have active plans while in Palau.
