| This lodge sits on 1100 acres of forest and will soon boast the state's only botanical garden. The grounds are gorgeous. It's primarily a conference center used by international corporations for meetings. However, according to the staff, the owners are changing some of the rooms to make them more family-friendly. Each of the 8 lodges are individual buildings and have (I think) a total of 60 guest rooms. Our lodge had one main large "family" room with sofas, chairs, TV, refrigerator and a dining table and chairs and 4 guest rooms. Each of the 4 rooms opened onto this room. We had the lodge to ourselves so sharing it wasn't a problem. It might have been a bit uncomfortable to share it with strangers since in order to make coffee, you had to leave your room and make it in this common room. If you rent all 4 rooms and share it with family/friends, that would be ideal. The staff said that some of the rooms have been re-configured to have the TV and refrigerator in the individual room. Staff gave great restaurant recommendations (and driving directions) as presently there is no dining service for guests. The lodge refrigerators were well-stocked with water, sodas, junk food, etc. The main lodge had baskets of apples, bananas and sweet rolls. These refreshments were courtesy of the lodge, i.e., no charge. Highlights: Returning from dinner, we saw a deer on the grounds in a clearing. And it's extremely quiet!!!

| I was looking for a peacefull place to stay that was not your traditional hotel. One that allowed me to work in the evening with out hearing people going in and out and blasting their TV's. As a runner, the large acreage of the facility allowed for easy running with out worrying about traffic. A surprise when I woke up was seeing 2 large deer outside my window.
