    Features
What to expect: This historic 1899 hotel was almost the only building left standing in the Old Town after World War II and has hosted composers and the Polish resistance. Doormen in period uniform welcome guests into a spacious lobby with Art Nouveau ceiling friezes. Casually dressed older couples and groups of business travelers pass keep an eye out for rock stars and crowned heads of Europe.

Amenity highlights: Wicker chairs and blue tiles give the Bristol's indoor pool a Riviera feel. The in-house beauty salon uses exclusive French Guerlain products. The Michelin-featured Malinowa Restaurant serves French and Polish cuisine under huge chandeliers, while the Column Bar recreates the hotel's Art Nouveau heyday.

Insider tip: Step out of the hotel and lose yourself in the gorgeous parkland of the Royal Łazienki Park, where you can see Chopin’s statue, admire the resident peacocks, take a ride on a gondola or visit the Royal Summer Palace.

Malinowa - The Malinowa's historic dining room is decorated with rich raspberry brocaded wallpaper and chandeliers. Dinner is served from a fusion French-Polish menu. The Malinowa's signature dish - Suckling Pig - is marinated in Polish bison grass vodka.

Marconi - Serving buffet breakfast and lunch with a Mediterranean feel, the cheerfully lit Marconi has views of the hotel's courtyard and is decorated in Art Nouveau style. Sunday brunches include children's activities, live classical music and unlimited sparkling wine. In summer an outdoor terrace is shaded with parasols.

Café Bristol - Viennese style coffee and cakes, breakfasts, light lunches and dinners are served in café atmosphere. Wooden bistro chairs, padded banquettes and marble-topped tables sit on the black-and-white tiled floor. Walls are hung with historic photos of the café. On weekend afternoons the café serves a chocolate buffet.

Column Bar - Just off the lobby, this high-ceilinged, parquet-floored bar is filled with ornate, Art Nouveau columns decorated with elaborate light fittings. Guests sit on leather armchairs or at the antique bar, where drinks and snacks are served.

Stayed at the Bristol in early July, in peak tourist season. Could not have been more pleased with the room and the service. And the hotel bar is one of those grand old hotel bars of yore - oozing history. Strongly suggest spending a few extra dollars on the executive rooms. They are bigger and very nicely furnished. The location for the Bristol is great, close to Old Town but not directly in it. And there's an excellent restaurant just around the corner - Cafe L Europe - with terrific food, and outstanding, unpretentious service.

After staying at Le Royal Meridien Bristol in Warsaw, Poland, we got the impression that it might be the nicest western style hotel in the city. The lobby and common areas of the hotel were very well decorated and clean, as was the room that we stayed in while we were there. A dramatic glass-walled elevator takes you to the upper floors from the lobby. Drinks in the hotel's Column Bar are on the expensive side (for Poland), but the room is so elegant that it is worth overpaying a little for the experience. Included in the price of the room was access to the hotel's heated pool and two types of saunas (steam and dry). The pool was nice and offered hours during which children were not allowed. The saunas were also a very nice feature. The location was also very convenient. The hotel is located only a few blocks from Warsaw's "Old Town" tourist district. The staff was very helpful and everyone that I interacted with spoke good English. It was an excellent value and I will definitely stay there again if I go back to Warsaw.
