Features
What to expect: Situated on a busy street, this seemingly nondescript hotel features a jaw-dropping interior, beginning with the marble-clad European-style lobby with curved reception desk. On the lower level, the hotel echoes early-California and Hollywood themes with a new bar and lounge. Guests include vacationers and business travelers.

Amenity highlights: Hotel management has recreated Hollywood glamour in the 1160 Lounge & W.C. Fields Bar, with theatrical lighting, hand-painted ceiling murals by Gary Lloyd (grandson of movie legend Harold Lloyd), and a hand-carved marble bar with piano. Most nights, there's live entertainment such as jazz piano, karaoke, or comedy acts. Saunas are located on every floor of the hotel, with two steam rooms also on the premises.

Insider tip: The Santa Monica/Vermont Metro station is located 1 block from this hotel, affording fast and easy subway access to Hollywood, Universal Studios Hollywood, downtown L.A., and other areas and attractions.

Guests of the hotel enjoy a complimentary Continental breakfast each morning.

They didn't provided twin bed room for us. They provided us 1 single room + tiny bed , not comfortable for sleeping. They have to carry out the contents of booking. However this hotel locates in convenient station near Universal Studio within 10 minutes by car.

The hotel's neighborhood is not promising. This is not the greatest part of town. The hotel from the outside does not seem to be anything special, but the appearances are deceiving. Inside, the rooms are spacious and luxurious, new; the beds are very comfortable. There is no restaurant in the hotel but that is one small inconvenience. The parking lot is locked and guarded. Overall a very good experience.

Great budget stay(no car, so no daily parking fee). Outside of the hotel, is a DASH bus stop that loops into Hollywood & back for a quarter(regular bus is a dollar more). Subway only 2 blocks away & can get you to Univ. Studios, downtown, Pasedena, Long Beach & LAX. Neighborhood is semi-seedy. If seedy bothers you, turn right, go north & you will soon be out of it. A varied free breakfast every morning kept hunger away until 1pm. A Frank Lloyd Wright home (Hollyhock) is 8 blocks north(or a quarter) away with a magnificent view.

Ramada has a good hotel in a rather dark, dingy, less than perfect area. If you have a car as we did, you can drive away from this area in just a few minutes. Most of Hollywood is the same. The pool closed at 8:00PM and we never got back in time to use it. The buffet was fine, when the buffet got packed, the employees worked very hard to keep up. Knowing the area, I would go back as long as I had a car. Parking seemed limited at the hotel, but all 3 nights I was able to find a spot after 10:00PM

The staff was very helpful, but I would not recommend this hotel. Other reviews and ratings bill this hotel as nice but we were very disappointed. The rooms were not well insulated (temperature and noise problems), the air conditioner made too much noise, and the bed was one of the hardests I've ever slept in. Besides all this the surrounding neighborhood is pretty rough.

Otherwise, it wouldn't be my first choice. The neighborhood is a little dodgy. The location is reasonably good, but "near Universal Studios" is a bit of a stretch. There are many other hotels much closer to Universal (although they are probably quite a bit more expensive.) It was about a 15 minute drive without traffic. The buffet breakfast was o.k., but the dining room was kind of shabby, the coffee was AWFUL, and they kept running out of forks (every day!) If you're looking for an inexpensive hotel, on a trip where you plan to spend very little time in the hotel, then it's fine. The desk staff was friendly and helpful; the dining room staff less so.

So many things wrong with this hotel: bad service (each call for housekeeping leads to busy signal), toilets get clogged with low-pressure flushing, poor plumbing makes the water fill up to my ankles during showers, rooms smell like smoke even though they are non-smoking rooms, ants in the bathroom, room keys have trouble working, no towels by the pool. I did not enjoy my stay at all and definetely do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
