| Rooms were very nice and linens smelled wonderful. It was great having a kitchen as we bought food for breakfast and snacks. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Hotel is 1/2 block from 5th Ave. where all of the shops, restaurants, and night life is. Pool is small but we had it to ourselves so that was nice. There were only two lounge chairs by pool but again, we were the only ones by the pool. Hotel is a block from the beach, but it wasn't a great location so we walked 4 blocks to Mamita's Beach which was much nicer. My only complaint about maintenance was the toilet sticking occasionally and the ants in the bathroom. When we arrived at the hotel they didn't have record of us coming, fortunately they had space available and they checked us in and later contacted Expedia. Don't know if this was an issue with the hotel or Expedia.

| Acanto Hotel and Suites was the perfect place to stay for what we were looking for in Playa. We had spent much time there in the past and were not interested in spending the week in an all inclusive resort. The rooms are huge and very nice inside. Outside of maybe a hot tub in the room and a larger TV you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer room in Playa in any resort. There is a full kitchen, which definitely comes in handy and it is right next to 5th ave and the beach. It is a small hotel so there isn't a huge pool or a bar, but the pool is nice. The hotel is really in a perfect location. It's on a side street, but at the same time right next to everything. You leave your key at the front desk when you leave to go out, which was different, but it wasn't an inconvenience as there is always somebody there when you come back. All in all we highly recommend the hotel and we will stay there again next year.

| We stayed at the Acanto for a week between Christmas and New Years 2005. The hotel's location is ideal... just a few steps off 5th Avenue on a quieter corner in downtown Playa. The hotel is an easy one block walk to the beach and close to several beach clubs & restaurants on 5th. The hotel is quiet at night with the exception of a jazz band you can hear playing next door. The pool is small & needed to be skimmed, but is refreshing. The hotel had overbooked and did not have a room available for us upon arrival, which was frustrating. To remedy the situation, they put us up in a room across the street for one night and also refunded one night of our stay in cash. We were satisfied with that. Aside from a few problems with the toilet working incorrectly, the hotel was comfortable, peaceful and very relaxing. The kitchenette does come in handy to store drinks and a few snacks. Although it's on the more expensive side of some hotels in downtown PDC, we would most likely stay there again.
