Westin Century Plaza Hotel & Spa Amenities
This hotel is across from an open-air mall anchored by Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s; Beverly Hills is about a mile away. The hotel’s vast, Asian-style Spa Mystique offers 27 treatment rooms, fitness center, café, spa tubs, eucalyptus steam rooms, and saunas. Behind the hotel, pools glow at night with jade, amethyst, and turquoise lighting. Beyond is a large, heated pool and a sundeck with cabanas, umbrella-shaded tables, and dozens of chaise lounges. The hotel’s Breeze restaurant is a chic, contemporary room offering California cuisine, a sushi/sake bar, and al fresco dining in warm weather. The lobby lounge and spa café provide outdoor dining in rattan chairs on the patio. Ronald Reagan stayed at the hotel so frequently during his presidency that the press dubbed it the “Western White House.” The huge ballroom, with formal stage and glittering chandeliers, hosts awards ceremonies for such groups as the Directors Guild, the Writers Guild, and Women in Film.

Recreation
The hotel’s top-of-the-line fitness center (surcharge) offers a wide array of cardio equipment, resistance machines, and free weights, along with personal training and TVs. Classes such as yoga, Pilates, and body sculpting are held in the adjacent hardwood-floored studio. Each locker room has two spa tubs, a eucalyptus steam room, a sauna, and refreshing rain showerheads. The large, rectangular outdoor pool is open year-round. A spa tub is adjacent to the pool. A few steps away, shallow reflecting pools double as wading pools for children. The Rancho Park public golf course is less than a mile from the hotel. The course does not take reservations. Santa Monica beaches are about 7½ miles away. The city-operated Big Blue Bus stops at the mall across from the hotel; from there, the ride to Santa Monica takes about 35 minutes. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

Features
What to expect: Wide and gently curved inward, this contemporary hotel faces the Century City Fountain along the Avenue of the Stars. Door staff in top hats and tails create a stylish first impression. The lobby lounge, with its soaring ceiling and wall of windows, faces the main entrance, while reception and the Breeze restaurant are at either end of the main floor. The hotel has hosted many U.S. presidents, as well as actors Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldberg, and Jack Nicholson. Primarily, though, guests are upscale businesspeople and vacationers.
Amenity highlights: The hotel’s 35,000-square-foot Spa Mystique is Asian in inspiration, with a serene ambience and treatments such as Japanese furo baths, Korean scrubs, Shiatsu, the Ginger Wrap, and the Green Tea Body Mask. Before treatment, guests relax in a calming room with complimentary herbal elixirs, deeply cushioned chaise lounges, and angled windows. Outdoor cabana massage is offered during warm weather. The spa also includes a boutique, fitness center, café, and the exclusive Yamaguchi Salon.
Insider tip: Beverly Hills is more than mansions, celebrities, and couturier shops. Every Sunday year-round, the Beverly Hills Farmers Market sells local seasonal produce, freshly baked goods, specialty foods, and ready-to-eat treats such as tamales and crêpes for instant gratification.
Breeze - Sophisticated California cuisine, along with sushi/sake bar. Pistachio-Crusted Halibut with Lobster Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Lamb Rack with Wild Mushroom Tart, and Amaretto Crème Brûlée among menu highlights. Herbs from chef’s private garden. Zinc ceiling, marble bar, striped banquettes of gold and brown. Patio dining in warm weather. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Café Mystique - Spa café serving light, healthful fare, including smoothies, salads, breakfast parfaits, sandwiches. Simple decor with coffee, cream, and bronze palette, fresh flowers, Buddha statue. Indoor and outdoor dining. Lobby Lounge - Oval bar, marble-topped tables, velvet sofas and armchairs, leather-upholstered chairs. Two large-screen TVs. Fresh flowers, spherical sculptures. Bronze-and-olive palette. Baby grand piano, with live music most evenings. Specialty martinis and other cocktails, light bites. Wall of windows, outdoor seating in warm weather.

| Expensive 4 star hotel that is not at the standard of 4 stars. The hotel had complicated parking, mold in the bathroom shower and tub area, a tacky picture in the bathroom covered a large gaping hole in the wall, and we had to call for an ironing board (which was never brought up)

| Stayed on the 18th floor. Room had a balcony with a good view. Very comfortable overall. Saw several celebrities during our 6 night stay. Only 2 complaints; first, the sink & shower drains were slow. Second, the $27/day valet parking (or $20/day self park) was irritating. Would definitely stay there again!
