| Reykjavik is an expensive city and that problem was made worse because a large convention was in town during our stay. After 10 days of internet shopping for a hotel I turned to Expedia and they found the Hotel Vic. The location isn't great (in an office/light industrial park) but you can walk to the heart of the city in 20 minutes. The room was very large and quite comfortable - two twin beds and a day bed. Room came with refrigerator, microwave and utensils. No elevator and we were on 3rd floor but stairs are an easy climb. Everything was neat and clean. Depending on the option you select, breakfast may be included. In our case it was and that's a good thing given the price of food in Iceland. A good breakfast might run $20 or more. The food at the hotel was outstanding - cereal, breads, pastries, juices, hot and cold beverages, sliced meat, cheese and vegetables and much more. There is a small bar downstairs and you can get food there throughout the day. The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were incredibly helpful even to the point of making a sandwich for us when we arrived late and only had 20 minutes until a tour bus picked us up. They were willing to go out of their way to make arrangements and ensure we had a good time. Overall the Hotel Vic was a delight. If I could change anything I might like to be a little closer to the city center but that's a minor inconvenience.
