Hotel Monticello of Georgetown Amenities
The small and intimate Hotel Monticello of Georgetown sits on a quiet street, surrounded by handsomely restored historic buildings. Recreation
The hotel provides complimentary passes to The Fitness Company, 2 blocks away. The towpath along the 19th-century C&O Canal is popular for walking and jogging. Access is a half-block from the hotel. Spring through fall, mule-drawn barge rides provide a novel way to enjoy the scenery. During those months, the mules are stationed right by the canal—and are eminently pettable. Canoes are also available for rent. Just north of busy M Street, tree-lined residential streets invite leisurely strolls past stately old townhouses and mansions. For a good walk that embraces both the quiet and bustle of Georgetown, guests can head north on 31st Street NW (2 blocks from the hotel). Stop by Tudor Place, a historic manor with exquisite gardens. A few blocks farther is the Dumbarton Oaks estate, where brick-paved paths wind through lavish floral displays, statuary, fountains, and pools. The route continues west on R Street NW, then south to lively Wisconsin Avenue, with its shops, antiques dealers, and cafés. At the foot of Wisconsin is the Potomac waterfront and the glitzy Washington Harbour development, with views of the Kennedy Center and the Watergate complex. The hotel is about 2 blocks away.

Features
What to expect: This 47-room boutique hotel offers a prime location in historic Georgetown, one of D.C.'s most desirable neighborhoods. The peaceful C&O (Chesapeake & Ohio) Canal is a half-block south. Lively M Street, chockablock with shops, pubs, and restaurants, is a half-block north. The Monticello is particularly attractive to business travelers who enjoy mixing a little shopping and sightseeing with their work. Guests, including many from Europe, appreciate the Monticello's intimate scale and unpretentious ambience. A large proportion of clientele are repeat guests. Amenity highlights: Although built in the 1960s (and renovated in 2000), the six-floor redbrick hotel blends harmoniously with the 18th- and 19th-century townhouses that surround it. Gleaming brass chandeliers and reproduction antiques accent the small, Federal-style lobby, which itself has a townhouse feel. The lobby is the setting for the complimentary Continental breakfast. Insider tip: A half-block from the hotel, the garden adjoining the Old Stone House provides a calming retreat from the M Street hubbub. It's a lovely setting for a picnic (perhaps with goodies from the nearby Dean & DeLuca gourmet grocer). The house itself, built in 1765, is the oldest in the city that is still in its original location; it's open to visitors several days a week.
The Hotel Monticello serves a complimentary Continental breakfast, including freshly baked pastries, fresh fruit, coffee, and tea, each morning. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but numerous dining options are in the surrounding area, particularly along M Street and Wisconsin Avenue. Nearby restaurants: Sea Catch Restaurant La Madeleine Ristorante Piccolo Pizzeria Uno Thomas Sweets Ice Cream

| What a great hotel. The location could not have been better. It was a short walk to great restaurants and shopping on M Street. The canal was interesting and further down the street was a great waterfront area with fountains , restaurants and boat tours. I plan on staying there again.

| This was a small, affordably priced but elegant, historic hotel in the middle of Georgetown. Very spacious, well-appointed rooms and friendly, helpful staff. It's adjacent to the historic and trendy shops and restaurants in Georgetown, but still only a 10 minute cab ride to the sites of D.C. Two thing to note: 1. Ask for a room other than #106. Although beautiful and spacious, it is right outside the morning coffee/buffet service and noisy early in the morning. 2. Georgetown is not readily accessible to DC's metro subway system, so be prepared to pay for cabs.

| European style, small, quiet, charming, right IN Georgetown, walk to Kennedy Center, breakfast right around the corner, helpful staff (they got us tickets to a sold out performance). Oh, and the windows actually open, all the way, in you room. This is a fine hotel.

| We typically stay at large chain hotels, but we chose this hotel based on it's location. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was top notch, very clean, well decorated, and huge (with a separate sitting area and a large bedroom). The location is also excellent, right in the heart of shopping and dining, and right on the busline (DC Circulator) which will take you into the heart of DC. We will definately stay here again on our next visit.

| The room was large. Beds were comfortable, towels large, WiFi worked well. The room was on T Jefferson street and quite noisy at night, but that is Georgetown. Good location.

| Our recent stay at the Hotel Monticello exceeded our expectations. The staff was extremely accomodating. The room was spacious and comfortable. The location in the heart of Georgetown and within a quick walk to the Metro was perfect. A great "home base" for our trip to D.C. While there is no onsite restaurant, there are many excellent options nearby, many of which offer quick delivery service. The complimentary continental breakfast was just enough to start the day. Can't wait to return to finish our D.C. touring!
