The Highlights: - Massive size suite for a city hotel - Excellent location just next to Central Park - Great if you're with your young kids - Good neighborhood The Low Points: - The yawning, "couldn't care less" receptionist checked us in and when we went to our room they were still cleaning it. - The kitchenette was smelly

Room was very spacious and included a full kitchen, 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. 2 air conditioners made the stay very pleasant since it was terribly hot outside. Hotel staff took good care of all our needs.

We came for a quick weekend visit and wanted to be near the subway, and within walking distance to many of the museums and Central Park. We also wanted to stay in a relatively quiet area of the city. This pleasant hotel met our needs. It's an old hotel in a great location--a block from Central Park (East)-- close to the Met, the Whitney and across the park from the Natural History Museum. We loved the quiet neighborhood and, since it's a suite hotel, enjoyed having a relatively large room with refrigerator, sink, coffee pot and dishes so we could bring in breakfast food and fruit. Although the restaurant adjacent to the hotel (and from which room service was brought) seemed lovely, with some dining out on the sidewalk, we never ate there, and were told the prices were high. We had a nice size room in the back of the hotel, so no view, but very quiet The only drawback was having a window air conditioner, which kept the room comfortable, but was noisy. All in all though, we would definitely stay there again!

This is a small quiet hotel. I think it is what is referred to as a "prewar" building. We had a 1 bedroom suite that was huge, comfortable, very clean, and well furnished. Great for families. Although the hotel's only restaurant is quite expensive (room service only for breakfast), there are plenty of restaurants nearby - Three Guys around the corner was great for breakfast). The "gym" is very small with one treadmill and a few weights but the hotel is only 1 block from Central Park.

The staff at the Surrey Hotel were very friendly and extrememly helpful. This was all just icing on the cake and the place was in an excellent location (half a block to Central Park), had large rooms, and was clean and comfortable. We felt like we truly lucked out finding this gem and will be staying there again.

Upper East side NYC. 1/2 block from Central Park, 3 blocks subway, grocery 2 blocks. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite. Full kitchen 2 TV's. Quite spacious for NYC. Would stay there again. Quiet, residential neighborhood and felt very safe out on the streets at night. Never heard other residents. Highly recomended.

The hotel staff was great - very friendly and accomodating. Our room (suite) was huge - who could believe - a walk in closet in a NYC hotel!! The location was perfect for us - plenty of restauarants, shopping, and central park nearby, yet you're also obviously in a family oriented neighborhood. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that the traffic was a bit noisy at night. Otherwise, everything was perfect. I would definitely go back.
