Features
What to expect: The lobby in this boutique hotel resembles a designer furniture showroom at first glance, with its oversized suede armchairs, velvet ottomans, bold striped rugs, clear glass vases, leather cubes, and walnut nesting tables. Light wood dominates the walls and tables, with stainless steel accents and black and white photography. The clientele is mostly stylish young professionals and executives. Amenity highlights: Guests can work out at SWEAT, the 24-hour fitness center, or relax at WET, the outdoor swimming pool, open all year. Business travelers can take advantage of 10,000 square feet of meeting space. A CD and DVD library is available at the front desk for in-room entertainment. Each week, the hotel hosts "Retro Thursday," which features local DJs in the main lobby, plus specialty martinis and appetizers from Savu restaurant.
Savu - Inventive Asian fusion cuisine for lunch and dinner. White tablecloths and plates and a minimalist decor enhance food and drink presentation. Entrée choices include Crispy Beijing Duck and Mahi Mahi with Asian Barbeque Glaze. The bar serves 20 different styles of "whimsical martinis." Gas fireplace, patio seating. | I expected more from a W hotel. I read as many reviews as I could find on this hotel and everyone said the same thing - "nice!". From the outside the W hotel looks like a motel- it is a very old building. But once you walk in the hotel design is very modern and retro.. This is defintly for the 20/30 somethining crowd. The staff was nice and friendly and extreamly well mannered. The decore was rich in color and the food was excellent, different but delicious. My deluxe room seemed "blah" it did not match the quality of the lobby area. The shower stall was very moldy and crusty -ugh.... and the air condition did not work. I called the "whatever/whenever/front desk" and an engineer knocked on my door in 10 minutes. He fixed the air condition and changed the filter, within a matter of minutes. I ordered room service several times from the pool area and from my room and they were pleasant and timely. The jappense inspired cusiune was delicious. The work-out area included great cardio equipment but the weight machines are rusty and old. The pool was well maininted and the cabanas were comfy... I breifly mentioned my concern- regarding the shower stall. I was quickly upgraded to a suite and given a breakfast meal coupon. Overall, my stay was pleasant and the area was perfect, because downtown atlanta is 25 minutes away, shopping/restaurants are walking distance.

| Wow...couldn't have been more disappointed! My husband and I booked the W Atlanta for one night to celebrate our anniversary. We were so excited to stay in this "fabulous" hotel...fabulous we thought, based on other reviews and pictures & descriptions from this and other websites. Once we got past the lobby the truth began to be revealed. We quickly learned that the hallways are dark for a reason...not ambience, but to hide the filth. The elevator, hallways and room smelled like an old motel, one that had not been renovated since the 70's. Sure the furniture style was contemporary, but the carpets and walls were old and dirty. It was musty, and there was actually mildew on the tops of the drapes and in the air conditioning vents. The bedskirt had visible stains. There were watermarks on the side tables. It looked like basic cleaning had not been done for months. The staff was very courteous, offering an upgraded room. Unfortunately the cleanliness was no better than the first. After learning that another local hotel that we had stayed in previously (and loved) was all booked, we decided to drive the 75 miles back home to sleep in our own clean bed! Obviously, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone....unless you like the prospect of breathing air circulated through mildew vents.

| This Hotel really knows how to make a person feel swanky! It has a very modern feel and you just feel instantly relaxed the moment you enter. The outside of the Hotel does not do justice for the inside. Take one step in and you instantly feel "cool". It is near a great mall and great restaurants. The staff has a "Whatever/Whenever" policy and they really stick to it. The bar makes the best mojitos I have ever had. Not a great view, but it is definetely worth it for the great feel and stay. Candles light the hall to the elevator. The lights are soft and funky in the hallways to the rooms. Very unique!

| This is a hip and well-renovated hotel. Decorations are very contemporary and it is themed to a twenty-something crowd. The air conditioning was not working well in my room and it was not repaired before I checked out.

| My stay at the w was marred by the extremely poor customer service. My room was made up only once in four days and then, only my bed was made. The valet misplaced my keys three times and then I was told to park my own car because he does not drive stickshift. The breakfast bar was only open one of the four days of my stay. When I asked when it would open and why it was not the staff could not tell me.Most of the staff sat in the lobby on sofas and talked on cellphones to friends and family. I must say my room was huge and very clean. The hotel is most impressive.I was just surprised that a very upscale hotel could not find a staff that realized people have a choice in where they can stay.
