    Recreation
The two fitness centers offer exercise machines, including exercycles, treadmills, stair machines, and free weights. Guests also swim laps in the indoor pool and unwind in the saunas or spa tub.

Diagonally across the street from the hotel is a 100,000-square-foot health club (surcharge). It offers two indoor lap pools, four squash and racquetball courts, four basketball courts, an aerobics room, an array of classes, and a range of exercise machines.

Four blocks northwest of the hotel is Rock Creek Park, a 1,750-acre forest with paths for hiking, running, and biking. Mountain bikers enjoy pedaling along the C&O Canal towpath that begins six blocks west of the hotel. Public tennis courts are located three blocks away, next to a public playground. Hains Point, an 18-hole golf course that includes a two-tier driving range and a miniature golf course, is three miles away.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

    Features
What to expect: This hotel is popular with groups and corporate travelers transacting business with the World Bank and American Red Cross nearby. The marble-tiled, three-story atrium lobby is busy with guests and visitors who enjoy its player piano and the soothing sounds of the stone waterfall.

Amenity highlights: Work-out facilities include two small fitness centers, women’s and men’s saunas, a spa tub, and an indoor lap pool surrounded by lounge chairs and tables. The mirrored fitness centers together have three exercycles, two stair machines, six treadmills, one cross-country ski machine, four weight machines, free weights, and several TVs. Throughout the public areas, high-speed and dial-up Internet access are available (surcharge).

Insider tip: The terminus for the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal is six blocks from the hotel in Georgetown. From there, the old waterway courses through 75 locks and verdant woods before ending in Cumberland, Maryland, 185 miles northwest. Mules on canalside paths still draw barges–now full of tourists–on the water.

The Atrium - Elegant dining room off the main lobby. Framed photos of Washington, D.C. hang on dark walls. Traditional American fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Starbucks - Located off the main entrance. Espresso and other drinks, snacks.

This hotel is situated right in the heart of everything. You might not spend your days in D.C. anxiously awaiting your return to the hotel, but you will not dread the return either. For the price, it is a clean, serviceable place to stay.

Overall, I would have to say that I enjoyed my stay at the Marriott. The hotel staff was very nice and attentive, though housekeeping came knocking at 8am. The hotel is in a good location for getting around DC (very close to restaurants and a short walk to both Dupont Circle and Georgetown), but a little too close to a fire station. If you're a light sleeper, sirens might bother you. The hotel is very clean and has a nice restaurant for breakfast and other meals. It is low on frills, but high on convenience and friendliness. I would consider staying there for my next trip to DC.

It's just an old hotel now. Eypecially bathroom, also elevator (takes forever). The rooms are very dark. Some parts are nice (lobby, restaurant). When you shower in the bathtub, the water doesn't rinse down...even though I complained they were not able to fix in within three days. For what it is you pay too much.

The Marriott charged our American Express for the full price of the room even though it was pre-paid through Expedia. After learning about it through a declined purchase, we brought it to their attention. They contacted American Express to generate a credit, but didn't seemed overly concerned offering no apology and no followup. We didn't see the credit until after arriving home making the card unusable on our trip.

The hotel was nice, it is in a very good neighborhood, but is a 4-5 block walk from the nearest Metra. Our room was a bit small, but very clean. Overall it is a nice, yet average hotel. If the price is right I would totally recommend staying there. If the price is high, there are planty of hotels in town that are just as nice.

Extremely comfortable king beds in single rooms, moderately priced, friendly and knowledgeable staff. About 5 blocks from Metro station, but not far unless you're wearing uncomfortable shoes. Can't say enough good about this place. Great location, great room, great staff, great bed, and great value!!
