Features
What to expect: The seven-story hotel is housed in the 1917 Railway Exchange and the 1937 Art Moderne Title building. Guests—their pets, too—are greeted by Lili, the hotel's resident Jack Russell terrier. She often lounges in the lobby, an opulent space dominated by a domed ceiling painted to resemble the inside of a 19th-century hot air balloon. Known for its whimsical charm and attention to detail, the hotel attracts sophisticated travelers who want to be pampered.

Amenity highlights: Hotel Monaco is home to Panzano, a northern Italian restaurant with a bar and bakery, and the regionally renowned Renaissance Aveda Spa and Salon. Guests can enjoy complimentary Starbucks coffee and Tazo teas every morning in the lobby, and an "altitude adjustment" wine party each evening.

Insider tip: The Wynkoop Brewing Company, Colorado's oldest brewpub, is located 7 blocks from the hotel on 18th Street, between Wynkoop and Wazee streets. Housed in LoDo's historic J.S. Brown Mercantile Building, the 32,000-square-foot pub features a restaurant/bar, pool hall, and an improv comedy troupe.

Panzano - A local favorite, the hotel's restaurant serves contemporary northern Italian cuisine—homemade pastas, traditional meats and game, fresh seafood, and salads. The restaurant seats 160 diners on the first floor; private dining for up to 50 people is available in the wine cellar on the lower level. The restaurant includes an on-site bakery and is open for dinner daily, breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday, and brunch on weekends. The bar offers cocktails, beer, and wine, as well as late-night dining Monday through Saturday. Reservations are recommended.

Hotel Monaco was, I will confess, pricey for just a couple nights stay, however, I discovered it was well worth it! This hotel is immaculate, and has both a wonderful restaurant (Panzano) attached on one side and a great Aveda Spa on the other. I enjoyed my stay in Denver so much and this hotel just made my stay that much better. If you are looking for a wonderful, clean, and convenient hotel (with very helpful staff) I would definitely point you to this one.

The hotel and the rooms were decorated in bright and interesting colors, definitely not the average boring hotel. Pets can stay at this hotel, part of the attraction for some who chose to stay there and I really enjoyed seeing the dogs, all were very well behaved by the way. There was even a resident dog, Lily, who was very sweet. The valet and desk employees were helpful, happy and friendly and provided excellent service. The restaurant, Panzano, that was attached to the hotel served such great food that we ate there two nights in a row.

Our family had such a great night at this hotel, I wish our stay had been longer. When our six-year-old son got lost in the hall coming back from getting ice with his older brother, and the whole staff mobilized to help us find him. They were incredible. Second, the place is knock-out gorgeous, so beautifully designed and all about comfort. The wine hour, the goldfish they bring to your room, the fake fur throw on the beds, it's all quirky and ingenious and comfortable. The massage I had at the Aveda spa was also fantastic. We will look for Kimpton hotels in every city we travel in from now on.

Though my king-sized bed barely seemed to fit into my room, I loved this hotel. It was clean and had an individual flair that most chains don't have. Service was exceptional, both front desk and housekeeping. My only complaint was the prices of things, such as phone calls and amenities was not clearly posted. I didn't have a problem paying had I known that I would have been charged. But still a VERY good hotel.

We booked this hotel for a luxe experience, and generally it was, but the room was signifigantly smaller than we thought, and the crib provided was also too small for our (large) 1 year old, and too squeaky, so we had to buy a playyard for him to sleep in. Otherwise, absolutly fabulous service, super clean with great attention to detail, valet parking was great and the wine hour! Excellent appetizers. The attached restaurant, Panzano, was superb - best meal of the trip. A great experience, looking forward to staying in other hotels in this family, will be sure to book a larger room.
