What to expect: Budget-minded guests seeking proximity to Waikiki Beach without paying beachfront prices find OHANA East suits their needs. Reached by escalator or elevator, the second-floor lobby hums with activity. Island art decorates hall walls, and new carpeting is in place, along with several other updates as a result of a 2005 renovation. Daily Buzz Espresso Bar, an aromatic spot just off the lobby, does steady business. Amenity highlights: On the second level and bordered by tropical plantings, a good-sized pool (completely re-tiled in 2005), roomy hot tub, and spacious sundeck offer guests an alternative to Waikiki Beach. A poolside bar serves tropical drinks and light food. Little booklets titled "Outriggger's Best of Oahu" are widely available on Waikiki's streets. But only those given to OHANA and Outrigger hotel guests contain coupons for dining and shopping discounts. Insider tip: All OHANA and Outrigger hotels in Waikiki offer interchangeable hospitality. Guests at any hotel are invited to enjoy dining, entertainment, and facilities at the other hotels—including the Serenity Spa (health and beauty) at The Outrigger Reef on the Beach—while charging to their rooms. Exceptions: The pool at The Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach is reserved for that hotel's guests, and the fitness center at The Outrigger Reef on the Beach is reserved for guests of that hotel and for Outrigger Waikiki Shore guests.
Keoni's by Keo's - An offshoot of Keo's, Honolulu's famous Thai restaurant, this popular place has two chefs—one for the Thai menu and one for the Western menu. Chuck's Cellar - Steaks, prime rib, seafood, and a pianist draw locals and visitors to this restaurant, which offers early-bird specials. Daily Buzz Espresso Bar - Just off the lobby, this spacious, aromatic spot brews espresso drinks and serves pastries, bagels, and juices. Pool Terrace Bar - Tropical drinks and snacks comprise the attractions at this casual place next to the pool and hot tub. Round Table Pizza - This chain pizza parlor has a branch on the street level of the hotel.

| I was very impressed with the quality of service given. The shower and bathroom were quite small, but the bed was great.

| We stayed at the Ohana East in August 2006 (kids 6 & 7). Very short walk to the beach so for those needing "family" pricing, it worked out great. Room was decent & clean. Elevators had a mind of their own. Disappointed that workout facility was not open 24 hrs for those trying to deal with jet lag. Plus workout facility was small & cramped. Pool nothing to write home about so walk the 2 blocks to the beach and you'll be much happier. Nice to have the frig and safe in the room. Pizza place downstairs was also convenient. ABC Shop & small grocery store very close by. I'd stay again.

| Hotel was great in every way! The front desk attendant and bellman went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Front desk attendant offered us a room on a high floor with ocean view and bellman suggested several great restaurants in the area where the "locals" go. Room was quiet and clean. Housekeeping even left extra set of towels! The only possible downfall is that pool area is half shaded during afternoons. Great location within a few minutes walking distance to everything. We will stay there again on our next visit.

| My husband and I went to Hawaii for our 35th wedding anniversary. We wanted to be close to the beach but not right on the beach. Ohana East was a great location. We were within a 10 minute walk to the beach, any kind of restaurant, the International Market Place, and several other sites. If you are looking for a comfortable, nice place to stay then Ohana East is the right place. The front desk staff was always helpful with anything we needed. That's a big plus when you travel.

| The room was clean and comfortable, but slightly small for 4 people (two adults and two teen girls). Short walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Grocery store was across the street which made getting breakfast convient and cost-saving. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again next time.

| This past week my wife and I stayed at the Ohana East hotel in Waikiki, Oahu. I've stayed all over Oahu, and this is actually one of the better experiences I have had. It is not a 5 star hotel, but it is not priced as one either. The room was very clean and comfortable, and fitness room was suprisingly well appointed (Two bikes, treadmill, universal machine, fans, TV, water, bathroom) and the location was great. It was a short walk to the beach and an even shorter walk to the International Marketplace and surrounding shops. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Before writing this review I tried to think of annoyances, but I really didn't have any. I wasn't in my room often, but when I was it was comfortable, safe, and clean. I would definitely stay there again. Also, for Hawaiian air travelers, they have a kiosk in their lobby, so when you are ready to unfortunately head back home, there is someone available there to check you in, get your seats and even check your bags for you (for a small fee). It made our airport experience coming home much easier.

| The hotel was nice although we did not have a great view of the ocean like i thought we were. The bell-men(?) were very friendly and helpful. It was near a lot of dining places, a block or 2 from the beach (Waikiki) and even had a laundry mat. Only thing i would have changed about it, is that i wish the front desk would have been nicer, friendlier, and more appoachable.
