Features
What to expect: This grande dame of Arizona hotels maintains early 20th-century charm and wide-open outdoor spaces draped in jasmine and bougainvillia, while offering modern amenities such as high-speed Internet access. The huge, fireplace-equipped lobby is filled with overstuffed furniture evoking the elegance that attracted film legends such as Fred Astaire, Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart, and Gloria Swanson. This hotel appeals to those who enjoy a small-town pace, convenient golfing, and walkable destinations. Amenity highlights: Built in 1912, the resort's 18-hole golf course is a charming "in-town" layout adjacent to the hotel. The San Marcos claims to be Arizona's first golf resort, and is filled with photographs of the stars who have stayed there. Two heated pools, lighted tennis courts, jogging trails, a complete fitness center, a gift shop, and a health spa make for a self-contained resort. The concierge arranges activities from river rafting to hot air balloon excursions. Insider tip: Rambaugh's television repair shop across the street has been in business for a half-century. Its friendly owner will gladly share his amazing collection of restored historic radios and television sets. Next door is Cupid's, a recreated 1950s diner that's a good spot for lunch.
AJ's - This airy, naturally lit restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. Classic American cuisine is prepared with a creative flair. Salmon, chicken, and beef dishes share the menu with salads and delicious desserts. The restaurant's casual elegance spreads to a lobby-side patio, where the soothing sounds of a large fountain and chirping birds add outdoor charm. 1912 Lounge - This bar serves the AJ's menu with the addition of sandwiches, appetizers, and cocktails, beer, and wine. Starbucks - Located just off the lobby, this coffee bar also has pastries. Mulligan's - This casual dining spot adjoining the golf pro shop serves light breakfast and lunch fare.

| Historic property, originally a destination resort for well-off who could spend winters in Sunny Arizona. Still very nice. Service staff friendly and helpful.

| I only stayed over for one night but the bed was very comfortable. I found myself wish I had more time to check out the near by shops and enjoy the very spacious rooms. I balcony was also roomy but the view was not worth mentioning. The summer rates were a steal for this resort.

| The hotel staff (front desk) needed training and made many mistakes in the room request and billing. Took time to get this sorted out. Overall this is a nice hotel for the price. However, the competitive price is now getting too high for this hotel and I would not stay here again base on better deals in the Scottsdale area of AZ.

| This is my second stay at this hotel. It is in the transition of changing from Sheraton to another brand. We were extremely satified with the service and the food in the restaurant. After going to 3 different restaurants highly rated on the internet, we found out that the best food was where we were staying.

| The pool was nice, along with the grounds. It was a little off the beaten path but a nice place to stay. It was great to have a Starbucks in the hotel. It had everything you would need if you stayed at the hotel all day to relax.
