Features
What to expect: Located just 1.5 miles from Vail Village, this hotel attracts upscale leisure and business travelers seeking access to a variety of seasonal outdoor activities–skiing in winter, mountain biking in summer–as well as upscale goodies such as down comforters, inviting furniture, windows trimmed in dark alder, and superb views of the mountains or the village.

Amenity highlights: Skiing and hiking enthusiasts enjoy easy access to the Eagle Bahn Gondola, which takes them to the top of Vail Mountain. The hotel offers several spots where guests can unwind, including a pub with a fireplace and Mountain Grille Restaurant. The Golden Leaf Spa, health club, indoor and outdoor pools, and hot tubs offer more ways to relax.

Insider tip: Vail and nearby Beaver Creek rely heavily on roundabouts to direct the flow of traffic. For those who have never navigated a roundabout: Upon approach, drivers should slow and look to the left; always yield to pedestrians, bicycles or other vehicles; wait for an opening to enter; and, once in, stay to the right. Drivers who miss their intended exits must circle again.

Avalanche Pub - This bar offers cocktails and light hors d'oeuvres in a setting that includes a fireplace and an alder-wood bar.

Mountain Grille - American specialties for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in this bistro. Seasonal breakfast and dinner buffets also are offered.

My wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary on a spur of the moment, we selected Vail in May. Lot of construction work but found a lot of things to enjoy despite the construction. The hotel was fantastic and surprised us with a "treat" on our anniversary. Nice touch in addition to the fantastic service we received.

This is a very large hotel in the Lionshead section of Vail Village. To get to our room, we had to walk down several long hallways, through the gift shop and through the ski shop. The price of the standard room was reasonable for the area, but the room was very tight. The hotel is fully equipped with a spa, restaurants, gift shop, etc. and the village bus stop is immediately outside the front door.

The hotel was great - they had ski storage and boot warming/drying overnight - nice and easy, great service. It was in a great location - walk to slopes / restaurants / shops - free shuttle-bus stop right in front - easy access to vail village. the spa was very nice. There were three hot tubs to choose from and an indoor pool. the only down-side was the mattress seemed a little worn - not enough support.
