| The hotel is very cozy and clean. However, if you like to sleep in, then make sure you request a room towards the back of the hotel, far from the lobby on each floor. Breakfast is served in the floor lobbies, and conversations or laughter from the other guests may wake you up.

| Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Union Square and would definitely stay there again. Positives: Great location, nice décor and ambience, friendly & helpful staff, good breakfast, nice happy hour, fireplaces on each floor. Negatives: Tiny room & bathroom (though I saw other rooms and they are much larger), twice hit my head on bathroom shelf because of poor placement, not enough seating at breakfast or happy hour (we sometimes had to stand), ran out of food for breakfast/happy hour, but staff would happily replace what was missing, no view from rooms (we were looking at a brick wall) but this did not bother us.

| This little hotel is 1 block from the cable car and about 3 to the buses and streetcars. It is on Union Square and you can easily walk to Chinatown (10 mins), Nob Hill (15 Mins), Financial District (20 mins), North beach (Little Italy) (25 mins) and, if you don't mind the hills, to Telegraph Hill and Fisherman's wharf (about 45-60 mins). Be warned, if you get a basic room, they are small and will probably have a view of a brick wall, no less than 3 feet away, but you won't be spending much time in the room anyway. Breakfast is good (Croissants, bagels, pastries, yoghurt, cereal, juice, tea, coffee), apples and coffee are available all day, and the wine (or soda) and cheese in the afternoons is a nice touch, as are the cookies in the eveinings. The only complaint I would have is that on several nights we had to call for a set of towels or a bathmat as they didn't always provide 2 complete sets, but this was no problem. (Toiletries were also not replaced daily). Staff were polite and tried to be helpful, although advice was not awlays accurate (cost of buses, taxis etc) - they did arrange an airport shuttle for us which was perfect. A great little hotel in a perfect location. I'd definitely stay here again.

| This small Inn/Hotel has been around for at least 20 years and is just as I remembered it from my last stay, about 15 years ago. The staff greets you at all times from the small lobby and is eager to help with any need you may have from rental cars, theater recommendations, dinner reservations or just general information. The rooms are compact but beautifully appointed and lack no amenities. The terry robes were so comfortable that we bought two before leaving. Each afternoon wine and cheese are served for all guests to enjoy. The morning coffee is excellent. Real fires burn in the sitting areas each morning and evening. The Inn is central to all transportation modes, great shopping areas and only a short walk to the financial district and China Town. Many fine restaurants are within walking distance including Scalia's, Morton's Steakhouse(next door), Farallon, Sears Fine Foods and Dotties (best breakfast in SF, get there early). I would recommend this Inn to anyone, especially if you prefer personal service and quiet surroundings.

| Great little hotel with nice touches like wine and cheese in the evening and cookies and tea in the afternoon. However, we chose the hotel because they advertised free high-speed Internet connection in the room, which never worked throughout our 4-day stay.
