Grotto Bay Beach Hotel (GBBH) is well managed and has several good amenities that make it worthy of consideration. It is located on a protected bay, so there is no "surf" and as a result the water is very safe for kids and occasional swimmers. The beach is clean, safe, and has enough chairs so you don't have to fight over them or get there at 6 am to stake out your turf. Shade is a little scarce - use sunscreen or take your lumps. Great convenience for divers as Triangle Dive shop is on the premises. The dive shop is a separate entity, so bring your credit card along with your C-card and call in advance to get boat departure times and destinations, which vary from day to day. A scooter rental shop is well located nearby and has good cycles. You will need one unless you choose the bus pass (we got both; the bus is very good if there are any weather issues). Taxis are expensive as most tourist destinations are rather distant (that is the one downside to this place, but not a "deal-breaker"). The meal plan is probably a good idea if you're on any kind of a budget, as food adds up quickly if you go "a la carte". The food was quite good, and good service. We had a great time (7 days in July)!

Just returned from Grotto Bay and had an excellent time. The grounds were beautiful, the beach was fantastic and our room was great. Breathtaking views of the ocean from our balcony. Snorkling was great.

Overall we liked this hotel very much. Things were maintained well, and the landscaping was beautiful. We loved hearing the tree frogs (peepers) at night. The shower in the bathroom was set up with half the tub covered by a 1/2" thick sheet of glass that was stylish but let water go onto the floor. There are no elevators, so if you are on the 3rd floor, you have a good view, but you have to walk up. One problem with the hotel is that it is built on a hillside, so there are steps up and down to the beach and the main building. Need to be able to climb hills to stay here. It has some unique and nice points; 2 caves on the grounds with one for swimming and the other for viewing. Watersports on site (boat rentals, diving trips, snorkels, etc.) A sunken boat off the beach for snorkeling around. An area with a large school of fish at one end of the beach. It has its own bus stop which is convenient to get around the island. If you stay here you can easily take the bus from the airport. Concierge desk was very helpful and pleasant. The swimming pool was taken over during the day by young children. I enjoyed watching them, but if you don't like splashing kids, there may be too many in the pool. The beach might be a better bet for you.

The Grotto Bay is different that any other place I have stayed. You have your own "cabins" and need to walk outdoors to get everywhere. This at times can be challenging because you are walking up dimly lit paths at night, some paths have stairs, some are walking up hill and then down. And as we learned it is even worse when it rains. I would not reccommend the hotel restaurant at all. Poor quality food for the price.

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Bermuda and loved Grotto Bay. As far as comparing the value with other selections, Grotto Bay got us the best price for the given features we were seeking. Food and drinks were expensive but not unexpected. The hotel was extremely quiet and really has a family atmosphere type of feel. Our oceanfront deluxe room had an awesome view of the bay too. We used the Public bus and ferry transportation system to allow us to see most of the island. We will definately return to this hotel.

Gorgeous beach, very nice grounds, real caves in the hotel. The best thing for us was the dive shop right at the hotel. Amaising diving. Food is ok, but there are some good places in town.

Great hotel for families. Lots of activities for kids, quick ride from airport, clean pool and nice but small bay beach. As with most of the island food is just okay here as well.
