What to expect: The Quinta Real, opened in 1989, is striking in appearance. Constructed around the brick remains of the 140-year-old San Pedro bullring and an ancient stone aqueduct, the hotel surrounds a circular courtyard plaza. Guests are mostly families and groups from throughout Mexico, but the hotel is growing in popularity with travelers from the United States and Canada. Amenity highlights: Located in Mexico’s central highlands, the Quinta Real reflects the grandeur and colonial architecture typical of the region. The hotel has souvenir and silver shops, with samples of jewelry and crafts unique to the area. An art gallery highlights local artisans as well as works from elsewhere in Mexico. The hotel restaurant has a panoramic view of the bullring courtyard.
La Plaza - The multi-level hotel restaurant has large picture windows and overlooks the bullring. Seating is terraced beneath an exposed beam ceiling, large chandelier, and original oil paintings. Service is attentive. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily. The menu features beef, chicken, and seafood dishes, as well as local specialties such as grilled cactus. Additionally, regional specialty dishes are offered from the menus of other Quinta Real hotels across Mexico and in Guatemala. Bar Botarel - The Botarel bar is located next to the main bullfight arena, in the area where the matadors prepared for their next fight. It has brick walls and ceilings, arched walkways, and a very intimate feeling. The bar is popular with hotel guests and locals, and features live music on the weekends. An extensive wine menu offers selections from Mexico and around the world.
