| Hotel maintenance and maids very nice. Lots of towels for pool, beautiful place, parking okay but fills quickly. Great for families, bring your own BarBQue. Needs a lot of work, place is not in best shape. Roaches in fridge. Front desk very unfriendly and not at all helpful. Did not follow up on any questions. Be sure and call to see if all they say they have or do is really available.

| The Lafayette is a very nice hotel, and great value. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, the foyer is large with several excellent sitting areas. The back patio overlooks the pool which was designed by Johnny Weissmuller. The hot tub is in a picturesque nook overlooking the pool. The staff are extremely helpful and go out of their way to be of assistance. The only downside is that the hot breakfast is rather minimal. However, there is a Denny's and Coco's just up the road. For dinner, the Pomegranate Restaurant, literally across the road, serves fantastic Georgian (Republic) and Russian cuisine, a true gem and worth staying at the Lafayette just to be close to this great restaurant. The Republic of Georgia is beleived by many to have had the best food in the former USSR. The Pomegranate feels more like a Georgian home that an restaurant. The Lafayette is such great value, and being so close to Balboa Park, that I'll not look anywhere else when I go to San Diego again.
