| We arrived around 6:00 and received a key. The power was off in the (first -new) room and electrical outlets were uncovered and obviously being worked on. Apologies @ front desk, and a second room key given. This room (also seemed new or remodeled) had a K-size bed, whereas my Expedia request/payment was for 2 doubles (travelling with my 12-yr-old). Apologies again and a third key/room. This room was in the older section where the walkway was a bit worn, constructed of wooden planking with old indoor-outdoor carpeting. I did not want our feet on the carpet in the room. The cable TV showed poorly, as though the cables were loose or ill-fitted. Our next door neighbor set up an indoor-outdoor party in the hallway and their room and played music well into the night. I did call the front desk, and the party was moved into their room (way more voices than room capacity. There were rooms full of youngish men who looked like day labor, which is OK, but they made the trek to and from the (very clean) outdoor pool a bit of a hazardous route. Who howls at a 50-yr-old walking with a boy/son, anyway? While I have stayed in Hardeeville before, (halfway on our FL to NC drive), I have never felt that our brief overnight stop was hazardous or uncomfortable. I never pay top price for a double room, but will definitely try to ascertain the age of a place before I book another hotel @ a crossroads on the highway. A hotel cannot choose its clientele, but this place was really rough.
