Features
What to expect: This glass-and-steel high-rise is in Midtown East’s Turtle Bay neighborhood, a residential area rich in history. Top Midtown attractions such as Grand Central Terminal are within a stroll of 10-15 minutes. A huge glass awning shelters the hotel entrance. Inside, a pyramid-shaped glass atrium crowns the gleaming marble-and-mirrored lobby. With the United Nations right across the street, the hotel hosts heads of state and diplomats, as well as airline crews, executives, and international leisure travelers. Celebrity guests have included actors Angelina Jolie and Danny Glover.

Amenity highlights: The hotel’s indoor lap pool and large fitness center provide superb views of the East River, United Nations, and city skyline. A full-sized indoor tennis court—a rarity in Manhattan—is on the 39th floor. The Ambassador Grill, serving American and Continental fare, is indeed popular with ambassadors and other U.N. visitors.

Insider tip: Visitors can purchase U.N. stamps personalized with their own photos at the Personalized Stamp Shop in the U.N. Building’s public visitor area. They are valid for postage when used on mail from the U.N. offices in New York.

Ambassador Grill - Decorated in rich colors, this casually elegant room serves contemporary American and Continental cuisine. Menu favorites include Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes, Penne Pasta with Portobello Mushrooms, Steak Frites, Maine Crab Cake, and Caesar Salad. The restaurant is open daily for à la carte and buffet breakfast and à la carte lunch and dinner.

Ambassador Lounge - This subtly lit room serves cocktails daily from noon until late night. Light lunches are available weekdays.

We travel quite a bit to NY and have stayed in just about every hotel in Midtown...This Hotel is by far the best we've ever stayed in. The Staff is welcoming, warm and extremely helpful..and the rooms are much bigger than any of the other hotels we've stayed at. Well worth the money..

Not only was the room and overall accomodations clean and stylish, but the staff was very friendly and accomodating:from the front desk staff, to the restaurant waiter, to the pool lifeguard, to the concierge. The view of NY skyline was breathtaking.

Friendly staff members make stay enjoyable. One downside, however, was that the pool closed early due to lightning. Also, in the morning, exercise fiends took over the pool, leaving little leisure pool time. Great views and great food. The room service was delicious! And they brought us condiments, sides, and water aplenty. Also, the toiletries provided were top-notch. Gorgeous lobby and amazing views!

This was the second time we stayed at the Millenium UN Plaza Hotel. The staff is courteous, the rooms generous and the views are spectacular. One of our unexpected perks was that the East side is not only beautiful, but rather quiet. I felt more like a resident (always my goal) than a tourist. The only downside of the experience was they didn't have a confirmation of our reservation from Expedia...something about the hotel's fax machine not functioning or something.

We were wowed by the comfort and views (we had a corner room)at this hotel. The views of the U.N., East River, and city were spectacular. We found the room to be very comfortable, updated with modern Asian decor, mostly cream and taupe with black accents. The bathroom was spacious and the service was excellent. We were treated very well and would return here on our next trip to New York. The location was good too, if you don't mind walking about 10 minutes to the subway (Grand Central Station). We were allowed to use the health club to shower and change at no charge because we got there too early for check in. And they called our cell phone when our room was ready. Cabs were also readily available at the hotel entrance. That's great service!

The hotel is beautiful, clean and in a great location. For the adventuresome walker, everything is within walking distance. My daughter became ill in the middle of the night and the hotel staff were wonderful, calling a doctor for me and checking on her the next day.

The amazing views from the hotel are delightful. The exercise room, while a bit cramped, was quite sufficient. The pool is nicely sized as well as the tennis court on the 38th floor, where we stayed. The free wifi in the lobby came in quite handy as well.

Our only complaints were that there were only a couple of the electrical outlets in the room that worked. And there is a swimming pool in the hotel but it is not for recreational use. The pool has 5 lanes in it and only 5 people are allowed in at one time and you have to stay in your own lane. We had expected to be able to play and goof off in the pool but were unable to do so.

The hotel is a great place to stay! The rooms are big...beds are great....best views I've had in NY...The location is set away from all the crowds..but close enough for everything. The door men are the Best!..nicest ever..great info where to eat..and how to get there..all with a smile..my only bad comment is the Pool guys aka life guards are kinda strange..they sit there staring making everyone feel weird..no smiling up there..just deadpan stare downs! they should bring the doormen up there! but we love the place!
