Features

What to expect: Le Meridien is one of Barcelona’s leading luxury hotels and has been home-from-home to such stars as Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and Pavarotti. Situated in a neoclassical building the sprawling lobby has a cosmopolitan feel, as international businesspeople await meetings in large sofas, while well-heeled leisure travelers take a coffee break from sightseeing at the Piano Bar.

Amenity highlights: The hotel’s entire first floor is dedicated to business services and includes a business center and eight versatile function rooms. The front desk provides 24-hour currency exchange. There is also a secure car park and valet parking. Le Patio restaurant provides fine Mediterranean dining with Catalan influences, while Le Piano Bar has live music every night.

Insider tip: La Boqueria, just a five-minute walk down Las Ramblas, is one of the best fresh food markets in Spain. Guests who work up an appetite while admiring the delicious-looking vegetables, fruit and seafood should head back to the hotel’s Le Patio restaurant. All the dishes there are made with fresh produce direct from the market.

Le Patio - This 85 seat restaurant was formerly an open inner patio and is now bathed in natural light from a glass ceiling. It still features the original stone balustrades that surround the slightly sunken dining area. It serves buffet breakfast and à la carte lunch and dinner. The menu is seasonal Mediterranean with all produce provided fresh from La Boqueria, Barcelona’s famous food market. Every dish has a Catalan influence.

Le Piano Bar - Situated adjacent to the lobby Le Piano Bar serves coffee, beers, wines and cocktails throughout the day. During the evening there is live music.

Centrally located on Las Ramblas in the center of town. Within walking distance to many attractions, and easy metro ride at the doorstep to anywhere. Great shopping, resteraunts withing step of the the hotel. Modern rooms with contemporary decor, recently update. Amazing bedding...down comforter, oversize goose down pillows, nightly turndown service a nice touch also. Friendly, multilingual staff.

The Meridien in Barcelona is very much like any other Meridien hotel -- attractive, comfortable, appealing to business travelers. This hotel is exceptionally well-located at the end of the old city and just off La Rambla, and rooms facing away from the street are quiet. But the quality of the food in the dining room is mediocre, and the staff, while intelligent and pleasant, seem a bit self-involved and are not exceptionally warm. But then, that's Meridien for you...

The hotel was really 1st class, they were just doing a lot of repairs on the hotel and it was very loud at times. The staff was great and the location was even better. The room was very impressive. The bathroom had a bad sewer smell. I hope that was one thing they were working on to repair.
