    Hotel Grande Bretagne Amenities
The GB Spa combines an indoor pool adorned with tiny royal blue mosaic tiles and a thermal suite offering Laconium, herbal baths, Finnish sauna, reflexology foot baths, steam baths, and experience showers. Beauty treatments employ E'SPA products from the UK - the signature treatment is Hot Stone Massage. There is also a fully equipped gym supervised by a trainer, and a Juice Bar serving freshly squeezed fruit juices and a range of Twining's teas. Through summer guests can use the open-air rooftop pool.

There are four conference and meeting spaces: the Ballroom which can accommodate up to 600, the Golden Rooms which can take a total of 380, the Churchill Room 10, and the Royal Room. The 24-hour business centre comprises three kiosks, each with a desk, telephone, computer and high-speed Internet access (surcharge), while shared facilities include a printer, fax, and photocopier. Secretarial and translation services are available upon request.

    Recreation
The picturesque area of Plaka is ideal for a morning or evening stroll. Above Plaka, just one km from the hotel, stands the Acropolis, the most important monument to the Ancient Greek world and a must-see for first-time visitors to the city.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

    Features
What to expect: This eight story 19th-century building exudes wealth and refinement from very first impressions: a doorman in a bottle green cloak welcomes guests as they pass through rotating doors into a spacious lobby with mosaic floors and Persian carpets, neo-Baroque style furniture, and potted palms. Guests are a mix of businesspeople, tourists, politicians, and international celebrities.

Amenity highlights: The GB, as it is known, boasts a spa and health club, with an indoor pool and gym, offering beauty treatments, massage and aromatherapy. The summer rooftop pool affords unforgettable views over the city. There are also four fully-equipped conference and meeting spaces and a business center.

Insider tip: A short taxi ride from the hotel, a funicular runs up to the summit of Lycabettus Hill, crowned by the tiny whitewashed church of St George. The highest vantage point in town, it affords panoramic views. Close by, an open-air theater hosts summer concerts.

GB Corner - Located on the ground floor, overlooking Syntagma Square, this restaurant is popular with hotel guests and well-heeled residents alike. Occupying a double-height space with a mezzanine, it is open daily for lunch and dinner. The signature dish is Dover Sole Meunier with Lemon and Olive Oil.

Winter Garden - Two Corinthian columns in the lobby frame the entrance to the Winter Garden, an atrium space with a stained glass ceiling, potted palms, large mirrors, and two enormous Oriental vases. It remains open all day and serves English breakfasts, light lunches, high tea, and dinner to the accompaniment of piano music, as well as coffee, drinks, and snacks throughout the day. The signature dish is Grilled Chicken Breast with Potatoes, Spinach and Bacon Strips.

GB Roof Garden - Open from mid-April to mid-October, this rooftop restaurant commands splendid views over the city. It serves evening cocktails and dinner, with a menu featuring Greek cuisine and barbecued meat and fish dishes.

The hotel was incredible. The people that worked there were nice, considerate and could not do enough for us. The rooms were kept perfectly clean, and the room service was awesome. Anything that I asked of the staff they always said, yes, of course. Loved everything about the hotel and our stay.

Treat yourselves to a wonderful experience by staying at one of the grand hotels of the world. Centerally located within walking distance of all of the major tourist destinations in Athens, the Grand Bretagne is a welcome oasis yo return to after a day of seeing Athen's many sights. Although a little small in the basic room category, the luxury of the rooms makes you forget their size. We had a room on the floor with the balcony, and faced the parliment building. A great spot to start the day with a cup of coffee.
