| I was expecting more. The service was excellent, but, the TV didn't work when we arrived (but fixed when we called)...the room was home to a number of sizeable spiders. The food in the restaurant was nothing special and the dress code was not enforced, we dressed as suggested and were surrounded by jeans, shorts and flip flops. That took the restaurant rating down a couple of notches in our estimation. The service in the restaurant was poor, but the service in the hotel was excellent. Might stay there again, but chances are we'd choose another hotel next time.

| Classic elegance in Chicago's most refined neighborhood. A quiet respite just minutes away from the hum of the city, and the sense of history where so many famous celebrities held court in the mid-20th century. Well worth visiting as a change of pace from the more conventional high rises.

| We reserved two rooms: one with a king bed, and one with two double bedss. The room with the king was fine. The room with the double beds had a very foul oder. The hotel quickly sent up a housekeeping staff who attempted to spray the room, which we knew would not help. We insisted that the hotel provide us with another room, and they promptly put us in a VERY nice substitute room without any oder. The consierge service was VERY helpful about assisting us with reservations for local restaurants.

| Great location, right near the beach and in a clean, safe area. The rooms were not quite as nice as I'd expect for a four-star hotel - a touch more worn than most. The service was excellent and very friendly. Great bath products, too - all Aveda.

| We spent three nights at the Ambassador East and were most impressed by the service, the appearance of the room, the jazz group in the bar area once evening. The bathroom was a bit small, but adequate, the king bed was extremely comfortable. The only slightly false note was an inadequate breakfast the morning of our checkout day: we were the only ones in the Pump Room but somehow my french toast was cold. (Maybe it was supposed to be?) The hotel is within walking distance of a great deal, but is located in a quiet, residential area (the Gold Coast) just two blocks from Lake Michigan. Happened to rent "North by Northwest" after the trip, and saw Cary Grant in the same lobby we'd been in just a few days before. Would definitely return.

| When we went up to the room that evening after checking in earlier in the day we saw housekeeping had been there for turn-down service. I moved the pillow and noticed the sheets were dirty or stained. The marks on the sheets were quite obvious as even my 12 year old winced. I went to the front desk and let them know.Soon a man knocked on the room door, handed me a set of sheets and walked away. But even more exasperating was our inablity to use the tv. It had been a long day. I wanted to read and my son wanted to watch a Cubs game. The televison tube hummed and rang so loudly that it was intolerable. The Pump Room (the restaurant) is something right out a movie and the neighborhood is quite charming.

| The Ambassador East provides good value for the money. It is located in a nice area and close to good restaurants and fun attractions. The red line is even within a few blocks. The rooms are a bit small but tasteful. That aspect is made up for by the extremely accomodating and friendly staff. They anticipate your needs and take care of them the "Chicago way." I would definitely stay again!

| This hotel was not worth the price that they charge to stay there. The rooms are tiny and not very comfortable. The housekeeping staff began knocking at my door at 7 a.m. and did so every 15 minutes after that, and checkout wasn't until Noon!
