Features
What to expect: Shoppers and business travelers appreciate the Whitehall's pedigree and its location near Michigan Avenue attractions and Oak Street boutiques. The elegantly furnished lobby has a hushed, English hunt-club feel. Built in 1927 as fashionable apartments for wealthy North Side residents, the building was converted to a luxury hotel in 1974, and has played host to executives, world leaders, and celebrities.

Amenity highlights: A throwback to a more gracious era, the lobby provides quiet settings for conversation, reading, and sipping tea. Traditional decor features original wood paneling, fresh flowers, antique mahogany furnishings, richly patterned carpeting, and oil paintings. The hotel concierge assists with restaurant and theater reservations and with other excursions, and room service is available around the clock.

Fornetto Mei - This sophisticated bistro serves Mediterranean and Asian-influenced California cuisine in a stylish room with colorful murals and dark woods. Seating is available in a light-filled atrium inside, and outdoors in warmer months.

Fornetto Mei Lounge - A renowned gathering spot for Chicago's movers and shakers, the original Whitehall Club was among the first to serve alcohol after the repeal of Prohibition. Today the hotel bar features 200 specialty martinis, 40 different wines by the glass, and a selection of single malt whiskies, port, Madeira, and sherry.

very safe and conveinent area. Hotel staff very nice and accomadating. Hotel hallways are narrow and stuffy because it was an old building. But, sheets and room decor were excellant. Food in the hotel is great.

The Whitehall Hotel was a perfect place to stay for us. We were in Chicago for an overnight getaway- to go to the beach and to some good restaurants and also to do some shopping. Every member of the staff at the Whitehall greeted us with a smile and were so helpful to us. We needed some extra help, as my sister and I were traveling with my young son. The staff asked us several times if we were enjoying our stay and if there was anything they could do to make our stay better. They really seemed to genuinely care and want to meet our every need. As for the room, it was very clean and the furnishings were very nice. We were very comfortable during our stay. The location of the hotel is also good. It is very near Michigan Avenue, close to Water Tower Place. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance or a short cab ride. We found the concierge at the Whitehall was more than happy to make suggestions for places to go, and he made reservations for us as well. I would definitely recommend the Whitehall to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay in Chicago.
