We felt very pampered. Special features included GREAT bath products, a luxurious pool and steam room, and a deck off our room where we had cocktails before diiner and coffee and newpaper in the morning. The entire staff including housekeeping was very friendly and most helpful.

We especially like our suite. It was very roomy with a fireplace and sitting area. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub and a large shower and water closet. We also enjoyed the wet bar. The valet service was very prompt and the staff very friendly. The walk to downtown Banff only 7 minutes.

This was the best experience we have had in a long time. The lodge staff were exceptional, very knowledgeable, polite and willing to make our stay enjoyable. The three things that impressed me the most was that the staff had turned our bed down sometime during the evening which I have never experienced before and the next morning the windshield on our vehicle had been washed with a little note saying that this was done. Also, every single staff member greeted us with a "good morning" every morning.I believe it is the little things that count the most and it was these little things that will bring us back to this lodge in the future.

Two things I really liked about this hotel: the room was big with a nice layout, and there are two spa pools which are designed very well with stone surroundings.

The Royal Canadian is a really nice hotel for someone looking for a more upscale lodging without paying an exorbitant price. The rooms were a good size, included a fireplace(!),and the bath had large vanity separate from the WC which was very convenient. The only glitch was that the Jacuzzi was down for repairs during our stay; otherwise, I would have scored it straight "5's" across the board. Perhaps the hotel's greatest asset is its staff, which we found to be extremely friendly, courteous, and professional. I would heartily recommend this hotel to others and would gladly stay there again.

We stayed at the Royal Canadian Lodge for the last part of our Banff honeymoon. While our ideal setting was the lodge we stayed in outside of Banff, we wanted to also spend some time in town, and therefore ended up at the Royal Canadian Lodge. Many of the hotels on Banff Avenue appear to be similar, so it is difficult to say something about this one truly standing out. There was nothing particularly unique about it, and it is really more a hotel than a lodge. We prefer a more rustic style, and this hotel is more businessy. However, what they do, they do well. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly, the housekeeping staff was excellent, and the hotel was a comfortable place to stay. Our room had a king bed and a gas fireplace (actually we are not a big fan of those, with the ticking timer and the fake wood), had two reading chairs, and a very large two room bathroom. We enjoyed the ease of staying in this hotel, with its heated parking garage (be aware that there is a charge to park, we were not aware of that), ski storage room, bathrobes, and spa area with a mineral pool and jacuzzi that are clean and attractive. The walk to the heart of Banff is about ten minutes and is not bad. The hotel's location away from the center makes it quieter. If you are looking for a true rustic lodge, keep looking. But if you are looking for a comfortable, clean hotel with spacious rooms, and great service and amenities, then this is a good choice.
