The Madison Amenities
Since opening in 1963, the Madison has hosted distinguished guests from around the world—from entertainers to foreign diplomats to corporate tycoons. The Madison was completely renovated in 2003, with a grand reopening in September 2003. The restored hotel offers a worldly style and gracious ambience inspired by President James Madison and First Lady Dolly Madison.

Valet parking:
$26-35 per 24-hour period. Secured parking garage with in/out privileges.
Fee does not include tax and is subject to change without prior notification.

Features
What to expect: The Madison welcomes its business and international clientele with a spacious, mid-century modern lobby and a well-trained, multilingual staff.

Amenity highlights: Guestrooms feature triple-sheet bed linens and down pillows, and two telephones. Bathrooms are brightly lit, with stainless steel fixtures and marble floors. The Madison also has a fully equipped fitness center, with cardiovascular and weight machines as well as free weights.

Insider tip: The Madison has long been a popular spot for Washington celebrity-watching. Many of the famous and the powerful have favorite suites in the hotel and treat it as a home away from home—Bob Hope once came to breakfast in his bathrobe.

Federalist Restaurant - A mural of circa-1800 Washington, D.C., forms the backdrop for this casual yet refined restaurant serving contemporary American fare. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Palette - This artistically designed room showcases the art and cuisine of the Americas.

Postscript Bar - President Madison's letters are exhibited on the walls of this bar. Guests relax in leather club chairs amid mahogany decor. The bar offers a particularly impressive selection of Scotches and bourbons.

The Madison's elegance is complimented by historical documents of the presidens lining the walls of the coffee nook done in rich woods on the first floor. This area made my parting minutes a delight. There isn't anything wanting at the Madison. The elegance and the attentive staff are superb. My only disappointment was not having more time to linger and appreciate my surroundings.

We got in late do to heavy traffic from Virginia. The room we were put in was very small and had an adjoining suite. Our neighbor got in after midnight and the walls were so thin we thought for sure someone broke into our room. Our neighbor then kept us up coughing, hacking and clearing his throat all night!!! When we complained the next morning, we were put in another room. It was not an adjoining suite but it was near the elevators and we could still hear other guests opening and closing their doors. If we hadn't prepaid, we would have left. We will never prepay more than one night again!!!

Housekeeping, bell stand, and front desk service was fine. Bar and restaurant service definitly has room for improvement, which was a little dissatisfying given the prices for food and drink at the hotel. Other wise the condition and amenities (except no coffee in the rooms!) was fine.
