| for the money the hotel is ok. if you will have a car, have a deep sleep and do not have back problems then you should be fine with this hotel. we stayed for six days and sleeping was not something we did well during our stay. the hotel is on a busy and noisy street. the noise was more pronounced friday and saturday. the bed was of the cheapest kind and they did not use mattress covers but rather plain blanket so we found ourselves waking up partially on the mattress instead of blankets and -of course- our backs suffered. overall the room was clean but it would welcome an updating. if you simply need a place to crash and are not bothered by noise and shaolin temple style beds then you should be ok in this hotel. I guess for ourselves we just realized that resting is an important part of a vacation so we have agreed to up the ante and pay a bit more for more comfort next time around.

| The room was quiet even though it is on a very busy street. Older building with remodeled bathrooms, small rooms, but clean. An affordable hotel in an expensive area to stay, with free parking, breakfast and an outdoor pool.

| Found HJ a bargain that includes WiFi, Business Services and proximity to cities to conduct business. The rooms have been updated and are comfortable. Downside: During stay, the constant rain and wind speed kept pounding on the windows and door making entry and existing the room quite an experience. A soaked and exposed walkway was drenched with rain water thus resulting walking in water that soaked shoes that soaked room carpet making entry into the room a balance act. Did not like the exterior color combination of doors and building as it resembles the cheap and sleazy quickie hotel syndrome which was evident by adjacent room guests who were noisy. Noise from parking area can be an irritant. The HJ has a blend of business and cheap frills travelers more of the latter. Overall, on an extreme budget, its a worthy place to stay. Lastly, booked with Expedia for three nights and needed to change to two nights during stay which HJ and Expedia accommodated request.

| Good for traveling on a budget, and probably fine for a single night's stay. I stayed for 4 nights and wouldn't stay for that long again. Room was sort of clean but old and had problems: showerhead sprayed out the sides, noisy fridge and ceiling vent in bathroom, curtains wouldn't stay closed, and a close look at the floor in the non-reachable areas was disgusting. Wireless internet access was good. Staff was friendly.

| Small, clean rooms, with free wi-fi. Nice staff. Easy to get to. Be warned that San Mateo is south of SFO, so it makes for a slightly longer trip to SF.
