The Oxford Hotel Amenities
Opened in 1891, this hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has two popular restaurants and the Cruise Room, an opulent Art Deco bar designed in 1933. Guests enjoy valet parking, shoe shine, business services, and 24-hour room service. High-speed Internet access is complimentary at the second-floor business center. Other complimentary amenities include Town Car service downtown, and morning coffee and evening sherry in the lobby.

The Oxford Spa and Health Club offers cardio equipment, weight-training machines, and exercise classes, including yoga and Pilates. The spa and beauty salon offers massage therapy, and a variety of skincare and body treatments (fees apply).

The hotel also offers approximately 10,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, which includes the art deco Oxford Theater and the Grande Ballroom, with hardwood floors, high windows, and 14-foot ceilings.

Recreation
Guests have complimentary access to the Oxford Spa and Health Club, which features a fitness center with cardio equipment, weight-training machines, and exercise classes such as yoga and Pilates. The spa includes a beauty salon and offers massage and other skin and body treatments.

The South Platte Valley, a sprawling area less than 1 mile northwest of downtown, has a river lined with bike paths and parks, popular for whitewater rafting and kayaking. The 314-acre City Park, less than 5 miles from downtown, contains a golf course, tennis courts, horseshoes, baseball, football and soccer fields, two lakes, and picnic tables.

Summit County, a little more than an hour west of Denver, includes four popular ski areas: Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin. The Ski Train takes skiers and sightseers from Union Station, across the street from the hotel, to Winter Park Resort on Fridays and weekends from December through April and Saturdays in summer.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on-site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

Features
What to expect: Opened in 1891 and fully restored a century later, this genteel hotel in Denver's historical district appeals to affluent leisure and business travelers who appreciate its atmosphere and personalized service. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the five-story hotel features English and French antiques, marble floors, frescoed walls, stained glass, sterling chandeliers, and collections of Colorado art.

Amenity highlights: Guests sip complimentary coffee in the morning and sherry in the evening in the hotel's grand lobby, which houses antiques, art, and an orange canary named Casey. McCormick's Fish House and Il Fornaio offer seafood and Tuscan-inspired fare for lunch or dinner, while the Art Deco Cruise Room is the place to enjoy drinks or late-night nibbles.

Insider tip: The Wynkoop Brewing Company—Colorado’s oldest brewpub—is 1 block from the hotel on 18th Street, between Wynkoop and Wazee streets. Housed in LoDo’s historic J.S. Brown Mercantile Building, the 32,000-square-foot pub and pool hall is also the venue for an improv comedy troupe.

McCormick's Fish House and Bar - Daily seafood specials are served for lunch and dinner weekdays in the wood-paneled dining room. Saturday lunch is served in the adjacent lounge, a lively bar frequented by locals and businesspeople. McCormick's Sunday brunch is also popular.

The Cruise Room - This sophisticated bar opened to much hoopla the day after Prohibition was repealed, and was renovated in 1933 to resemble a lounge on RMS Queen Mary. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it remains a popular downtown institution. Genuine Art-Deco decor and wall panels depict light-hearted "toasts" from around the world. Open late, serving from a full bar and upscale pub menu.

Il Fornaio Cucina Italiana - Murals of the Italian countryside and wood panels decorate this restaurant, which serves lunch and dinner from a menu that highlights a different Italian town or region each month. Coffee, pastries, and sandwiches are offered each morning in the bakery.

Wonderful location, great antique furnishings that capture the historic nature of the building. Yet catered to business travelers with a surge protector large enough for all the electronics, and trouble-free wi-fi. Excellent staff and service.

Literally 3 blocks from the 16 street mall and all sorts of great restaurants and bars. Would definetly stay here again.

Great Location, great service and a beautiful room. Lot's of subtle niceties like sherry and coffee served in the lobby with newspapers etc.. Don't miss the Cruise Room bar with Art Deco interior and great martinis. If you need a bathroom the size of a trailer, then this is not the place for you.

The Oxford lacks some of the conveniences of more modern hotels, but more than makes up for it with charm. Its location in LoDo is just a block from the 16th Street Mall, making it an ideal base for exploring downtown Denver. We went there for our anniversary and were not disappointed. The room was furnished with beautiful antiques, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We found the desk staff a little less than helpful, but other staff members were extremely courteous. If you like the romance of creaky floors and old world charm, you will love the Oxford.

Service was outstanding. Room size was adequate. Location is great. Only complaint was the temperature. The room was too warm. We turned the fan on high and the heat all the way down and it didn't seem to make any difference. The window opened a couple of inches which helped but not enough. Would stay there again, however.

Very convenient, half block from Amtrak; outstanding Rest in hotel: McCormick's; walk to nearby shops & free mall shuttle; charming restored 1800's hotel; BUT, room has no a/c and even on 3/1 was hot in room. Wouldn't recommend in warm weather months.
