| Although we like the hotel services and the staff are very helpful, the facilities in the suite are a bit old. Also, we had requested a non-smoking room. Typically, the non-smoking room will be on a non-smoking floor. However, this is not true for the hotel. The room next to ours have smoker and it bothers me a lot when I was waiting for elevator in the hallway 'cause I am very allergic to smoke.

| We easily missed the hotel driving by because it looks like a real estate office in an office building. The sign in front of the hotel looks like a sign to a office plaza. The reception area looks like an office from the outside window. Check-in was easy but they don't bother explaining where to park, where to take the elevator, etc. The room is not air conditioned but there is a thermostat in the room. We tried to work it for several days until we asked and they said our room is not air conditioned. The rate is on par with other downtown hotels but we would definitely check out other hotels if there is a next time in Vancouver.

| Century Plaza sucks in a big way. Before booking, I made sure they had a parking garage. Vancouver has a sever, well-documented auto theft problem highlighting this need (Avis/Seattle will not allow its nicer cars to be dropped in Vancouver for this reason). Not only did Expedia online info state they had a garage...when I called them, hotel confirmed the fact. After checking in, was told parking was AVAILABLE in the public garage around the corner. At the garage, sign said Century Plaza's guests must park on the upper floors--their cut-rate deal with garage. After locking car, walked down the FIVE floors via ramps...no way was I going to take the darkened stairs...and saw their security team at garage entrance...a 70+ year old Russian emigre reading a book.Maybe I was overreacting. After all, Vancouver isn't Atlanta (where I live) or New York.Then...as I walked down tghe sidewalk to the hotel's entrance, three urban pioneers began to follow me.Holding a ceramic coffee mug, I turned around to face them figuring if I was going to get mugged...I'd at least get my licks in first. They had a change of heart and slinked away. Our stuffy room had a heating/ac unit which wouldn't start. Front desk sent up a guy carrying an electric fan! He said most of their units didn't work but that the fan would...something you don't expect from a 3-4 star hotel...yeah...right. My advice: Unless you're looking for "adventure" and an incredibly stuffy room, stay away.

| The hotel was under construction, so that didn't give us a very good first impression, but the actual six days we were there were quite comfortable. The staff was helpful and the cafe turned out to be astonishingly good for the price. The location was perfect for our use, just about in the center of downtown.

| Bring your tool box if staying here. The fridge handle was wiggling and ice cube tray was broken - there is an ice bucket in the room, but no liner and no ice machine. The desk clerk suggested I come down 18 floors and ask the bar next door for free ice - thanks. The good news is after a few hours you don't need to worry about ice because the buildup around the freezer was enough to cool off all the beverages you could drink. Nice stove though you have to call for the utensils Toll free calls were charge anyways. The beds have lots of coils in them and you will note this as they jam into you while lying down. The lobby and 2nd floor are under construction though you could not tell from the price. There are lots of hotels on Burrard- enjoy another.
