Features
What to expect: The long white expanse of marble-floored lobby makes it easy to imagine this hotel's former life as the center of state government in the late 1800s. It takes up a full city block and is a favorite for wedding parties and executive retreats. Off the lobby, the elegant Rib Room Bar serves cocktails and desserts to residents and out-of-towners alike and is known locally as a place to see and be seen.

Amenity highlights: The hotel has a bar adjoining the rooftop pool, which features oversized tiles, potted palms, and panoramic views of the Mississippi River and bridge. The Omni's barbershop offers antique chairs and a genteel atmosphere.

Insider tip: Nearby are some of the Quarter's oldest sites, including Jackson Square (2 blocks away), where the Louisiana Purchase was signed in 1803. The New Orleans School of Cooking is a half-block away, with classes available all week except Sunday.

Rib Room Rotisserie Extraordinaire - Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this award-winning restaurant has a warm, clubby atmosphere, complemented by rich wood paneling, wide leather armchairs, exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, and columns clad in marble. Slow-roasted dishes are a daily special, and the menu offers a variety of meat and fish entrées.

Rib Room Bar and Lounge - Adjacent to the restaurant and just off the hotel's marble-floored lobby, this carpeted lounge offers seating for 50, piano music Wed.-Sun., and windows for viewing the constant flow of the French Quarter.

Le Touché - This street-side bar serves light entrees and has a small, recessed lounge with a large-screen TV for watching sports events.

La Riviera - This small bar next to the seventh-floor rooftop pool and fitness center overlooks the Mississippi River and serves sandwiches and other light fare until dusk, April-Nov.

The Hotel was great the staff friendly, rooms small but so much to do you were there to sleep only. And they have a great pool and observation area on the top floor to relax and spread out unwind and have a drink. Was there over decadence and they were booked for the first time since Katrina. Im reserving and staying here next year. Just two blocks to Bourbon Street and get away from the noise here with just a short walk.

This is one of New Orleans great hotels, and I am happy to report that it remains a wonderful place to stay. The staff is back in force and exceedingly eager to please, to say nothing of grateful for their customers' business. Doors were opened for me every time I left the hotel over a two-week stay. The housekeeping staff were perfect, and provided the nice extras that go with a first-class hotel, like turn down service and a copy of the local newspaper in place of a generic national one. Most of all, one can see that the entire staff are working round the clock (despite challenging personal circumstances) to make the tourist's stay as seamless and elegant as ever. This really is the friendliest hotel staff that I have ever encountered in this country or abroad, over some 25 years of travel. The hotel is beautiful, right in the middle of the French Quarter, an easy walk to great restaurants and sites, and just far enough away from Bourbon street (two blocks) to offer quiet and luxurious sleeping arrangements. I recommend it highly, especially now when a vacation in New Orleans is also a way of helping one of the world's great cities help itself. For those who can't gut houses in the residential neighborhoods away from the city center (I've done that too), a vacation is a great way to pitch in, and this hotel makes that easy and enjoyable.Go!

The Omni was a nice hotel with an excellent location in the French Quarter. The staff were friendly and accommodating (especially the bell staff). The pool was great with incredible city views. The only downsides were the size of the rooms (bit on the small side) and the limited hours of some of the services (gift shop was only open 3 days per week and the pool bar had limited hours) as well. The staff took care of errors on our bill at the end in an efficient and pleasant manner. Not perfect, but we would stay there again. Good bang for the buck.

The Omni Royal Orleans is the perfect place to stay if you are looking to stick close to the French Quarter Area. Within easy walking distance are Burbon Street, historic cemetaries, Jackson Square, the Audobon Aquarium, Canal Street..... the list goes on and on.

Of the many hotels that I've stayed, this was a terrific one. Clean, comfortable, and very pleasant staff. Outstanding location (right on the French Quarter), and a great coffee and bagel shop around the corner. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and the pool with the view are awesome.
