    Features
What to expect: Tranquil resort living in stylish comfort with all the conveniences of home—but in a tropical setting on the blue Pacific.

Amenity highlights: Unlike most condominium resorts in this stretch of the rocky Kona Coast, Kona by the Sea provides a sandy area for guests to enjoy the sun. Roughly 70 yards wide and 15 yards deep, the sand section lies between the ocean foaming on the lava rocks and the resort's fresh-water pool. Rectangular in shape, the pool is large enough for swimming short laps. The surrounding sundeck includes a jet spa, lounge chairs, dining tables, umbrellas, and three gas barbecue grills built into a tile counter.

Insider tip: Fronting one wing is a state-owned saltwater pool built over the ocean. Ocean waves occasionally fill the pool.

This is the first time we stayed at a condo in the Big Island. Everything was just like the description. It is just a short drive to town where you can eat and shop. We will definitely go back there.

The 1br suite was a perfect set up for our small family. Not too fancy (kid-friendly) and just the right ammenities (kitchen, washer/dryer). We saved a ton of money by cooking our own meals in the well-stocked kitchen. The kids loved the pool and the sandy beach area. This made a great hang-out between sight-seeing outings. Also, the location is away from the tourist frenzy but a quick drive to restaurants and shopping.

The condo unit is huge and gave our family plenty of space. Views from the lanai are spectacular and give the impression of being in a luxurious private place. It's close to everything, yet peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed the pool and spa but also visited the salt water pool. Spa services are conveniently located on site so that my husband and I could take turns getting treatments and playing with the kids in the pool. The barbeque was well maintained and nicely located. Don't forget snorkelling nearby with the sea turtles. Our family is looking forward to returning and bringing friends!

This hotel was nicely located on Alii Drive. Beautiful grounds with a nice beach area and pool. Our room was very spacious. Having two teenager boys, the full kitchen and inside laundry came real handy. We enjoyed eating breakfast on our outside balcony watching the ocean waves crashing onto the seawall. We were a little dissappointed to the daily housekeeping. The maid service just wiped down our counters and didn't sweep our floors. Our stay was for six days and our bed sheets and toiletries were only replaced once during our stay.

We enjoyed out stay and really liked hearing the waves. Only concern was the room smelled until we got it cooled down.

My husband and I got a 2 bedroom ocean front room. It had a very nice view and we enjoyed watching sunset!! The room was clean and the air condition system was working perfect. I enjoyed staying at the hotel very much except: 1)The decorative pillows on the bed were so dirty. 2) The carpet was not that much clean 3) There was no CD player so we could not enjoy listening to our Hawaiian music CD!! 4) The maid was not checking to see if there was enough shampoo in the bathroom, so I had to remind them two times that we are out of shampoo! 5) And finally we had to use the key to our room for activating the elevator and all the doors opening to the swimming area and all our keys were terrible!! We had to insert our key so many times into the slot so that one time it would work! first I thought it is only the problem of my husband key or mine, but then we noticed all the guests were struggling with their keys every time they want to open any door, or use the elevator, and that was really annoying. Except the parts that I mentioned above, overall, we had a good stay. Mahalo!

This was my fourth stay at Kona by the Sea. I come back for the location, location, location! Every room has a wonderful view of the ocean. The two bedroom is nicer simply because the master actually opens up to the lanai, whereas the one bedroom, the room is located at the other end of the condo. Will definately be comming back.
