We were looking for a place to relax and since this is an older hotel there are trees and grass to sit outside. They have a lovely pool area surrounded by big trees. It was just what we needed for a restful time. The staff was very courteous and pleasant.

This is a decent place to stay. Breakfast was fine, people were friendly, rooms were clean and nice. Price was fair, not cheap but the didn't hold you up.

The hotel was way better than expected. Other reviews don't do this place justice. If you are looking for a clean room, friendly people, a nice pool, and a decent breakfast, then this is the perfect place. The continental breakfast has lots of choices. I took 5 kids and they enjoyed their time. The price was right and it was just what we needed.

Hotel was clean enough. Staff was rude, though. Unfortunately, not much choice--they're all about like that in carlsbad. Would pick another one next time, however.

I'm not too terribly impressed with the appearance of the hotel. Honestly it seemed like it would have been great and perfect if I still lived in the 1950's. The rate was great, the rooms was big, but it wasn't out of this world. I guess I must have had my expectations too high. The hotel looks much nicer online than it did when I arrived. The hotel staff was VERY friendly and VERY helpful so that was a huge plus. The Continental breakfast was also pretty good. If you just need a place to sleep and not really looking for comofort or luxury then it's the place for you. If you are too spoiled by the different luxuries that are offered in today's hotels, it's probably not the place for you.

First impression is ok, but in the evening... - 1 in dead cockroach in bathtub - very loud air-conditioning and no way to open the window, when I turned it off I still could hear neighbor's air conditioning (mid of July) - at 5 am trucks on hotel's parking started their engines and it lasted for an hour

Room was just your basic room, but we weren't looking for anything more. Had a decent swimming pool. Had great dinner special.

We enjoyed our stay. The free breakfast was nice and they did have a varity to choose from. The steak and fries for $4.00 was a bargain. The room was comfortable and clean however, our toilet seat broke the first night and then the chain on the toilet broke the next day. Other than that, it was an enjoyable stay.

We stayed 4 nights and the 2nd night at 1 am had to call the front desk to ask the person next door to turn down his tv. the walls are paper thin. The 3rd night we didn`t even get our room cleaned. We were gone for 12 hours and got back, went to dinner came back 2 hours later and never got the room cleaned. They tried to unlock our door at 9 pm to clean it and we told them to go away. You should too, don`t go there
