What to expect: This six-story, yellow-and-white building stands on a busy street leading to Piazza Venezia, the hub of the city. The reception area, attended by two staff members in three-piece suits, opens onto a tranquil lounge with maroon carpets, striped armchairs and sofas, and large classical paintings. The central location within a mile of the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain attracts a mix of vacationers and businesspeople. Amenity highlights: The rooftop terrace offers wide-ranging views of Piazza Venezia, the Vatican, and beyond; on sunny mornings, guests are welcome to bring breakfast up here on a tray. The breakfast buffet is complimentary. Insider tip: Adjacent to the hotel stand the ancient Markets of Trajan, named after a Roman Emperor. This semicircular structure is built into the hillside in a series of terraces with brick arches and vaults. In the second century, it was the site of about 150 stores. It has been partially restored and is now used for temporary art exhibitions.
The hotel serves a complimentary buffet breakfast each morning. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are several dining options within the surrounding area. Nearby restaurants: Abruzzi Mario's

| Pace Helvezia is definitely NOT a four star hotel. While the lobby is lovely and well air conditioned, our room was hot (as the "cooling unit" did not work for longer than 30 mins at a time), the water pressure was terrible, the shower did not drain and the shower doors did not even shut! After one night of this we requested to be moved to another floor, and they did it with a lot of attitude. The second room's shower was better but this time the AC did not work at all. Given that it was around 40 degrees C in rome at the time, we were pretty miserable. We DO NOT recommend this place, not worth the price.

| This hotel has a nice facade, small but comfortable rooms, clean marble bathrooms, but most important of all: an excellent location! The Colosseum, Pantheon, important museums and the main shopping street of the historical city centre are all located within 5 minutes of walking from this hotel. Staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!

| My family cannot say enough about the Pace Helvezia! Our room, a triple, was comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful, especially when our luggage was lost by our airline. The best part was perhaps the breakfast: great service and an incredible selection of fruits, breads, and meats! We cannot wait to go back!

| Our 2nd time to stay at Pace Helvezia. Each stay was for 10 days. We love Rome. We've recommended it to friends and they've all been satisfied. Not the most luxurious, but quite comfortable. Staff will do anything they can to see that you are happy. Other than the nasty smell of some fishy things a group of Japanese brought to breakfast with them, we were very pleased with the hotel on both visits. The roof top terrace is great in good weather. Get a bottle of wine or two, some cheese, fruit and crackers and you will find there is no better place to watch the sun set. The coliseum to your left, the Victor Emanuelle Monument brightly lit in front of you and St. Peter's directly in line with the sunset make for a really spectacular view. If you have enough wine and cheese, you may even forget about dinner.
