Features
What to expect: The ornate granite façade of this imposing building (built in 1891) suggests that this is not an ordinary value-priced business hotel. Inside, the lobby hints at Jazz-Age opulence with colorful murals of men in wide-shouldered suits holding money bags. Guestrooms are more subdued, offering a clean and comfortable stay without a lot of frills.

Amenity highlights: The unique fitness center is set in the bank's old accounting department and boasts the original floor tiles and plaster vaulting on the ceiling, in addition to cardiovascular and weight machines and a small lap pool with hot tub. Additionally, the hotel's Courtyard Café still has the massive steel door that led to the bank's safe-deposit vault.

Insider tip: The International Spy Museum, which opened in the summer of 2002 to large crowds eager to see artifacts from centuries of espionage, is just across the street from the hotel. Hotel guests can avoid the long lines and purchase tickets to the museum at the hotel's front desk.

Courtyard Café - Guests dine on Continental fare in this casual restaurant, with the heavy, round vault door still in place.

Gordon Biersch Brewery and Restaurant - This restaurant serves American-style cuisine and a good selection of the restaurant's own authentic German-style beers on tap.

Great staff, wonderful location. Half a block to the International Spy Museum and the Museum of American Art. Only 4 blocks to the National Archives and a couple of blocks to Ford Theater. Easy breakfast buffet at the hotel cafe (one kid eats free for each paying adult). Lots of restaurants close by. Metro is only a half block away. Inside pool (no extra charge as I understand is the case at other DC hotels). Will definitely return to this hotel.

I stayed a whole week and found the staff to be the best assets. Not once did I see a staff member look un-attentive to guests needs. Always smiling and offering assistance. The Hotel itself is great, very clean rooms, great location (used Metro all week Gal. Place/Chi-Town station right next to hotel) My actual conference was at another hotel but I am glad I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott DC Convention Center. The host hotel was more expensive and I heard bad reviews from other conference attendees. They became jelious when I told them of the great room, service and value I had.

Had a great time and hotel was in the best location. Walking distance to National Mall. Once there walk one way to the Capital and the other to the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. Catch the Smithsonian museums along the way. Room was nice size, Cafe for breakfast great. Bar and restaurant inside the hotel was a little loud but once in your room don't even know it is there. Would stay here again.

You can't beat the location for both business or leisure sight seeing. Two metro transfer locations within a block. Old town trolley transfer location around the corner at Ford's Theatre. A taxi always at the front door! A great but noisy restarant for dinner and a full breakfast in the basement. Nice hot tub and small pool. Always fresh brewed coffee in the lobby too. Spy museum, National Portrait Gallery across the street. Many restarants nearby, shopping, movie theatres and Smithsonians very close etc. Staff is very helpful. I travel a lot and this is a Home Run!

It's hard to beat this hotel in terms of value, service and location. Our family of four was very pleased with our accommodations (though the pool is rather small).
