Dei Dogi, A Boscolo Luxury Hotel Amenities
This hotel stands on the north side of the city, removed from the crowds of central Venice. Yet attractions such as the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square are easily reached by the hotel’s complimentary boat shuttle, by vaporetto (city water bus), or on foot. The 16th-century Jewish Ghetto is a five-minute walk, and St. Mark’s Square and the Doge’s Palace are about 30 minutes away.

In addition to its opulent public spaces, hotel highlights include a restaurant, a stylish bar, and a lovely garden leading to the water.

Recreation
Numerous recreational diversions are available on the Lido, an island famous for its beach and as the site of the Venice International Film Festival. The Lido is a 10-minute boat ride from St. Mark’s Square.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

Features
What to expect: This hotel is on a quiet canal-side street in the residential Cannaregio district. Stained-glass doors swing open to reveal a grand reception area with lofty ceiling, marble floors, and two six-foot-tall Murano glass chandeliers. Beyond is the hotel’s romantic garden. The hotel draws luxury travelers who prefer to be away from the crowds, yet within easy reach of the city’s famous sites.

Amenity highlights: This four-story building was the residence of the French ambassador in the 18th century, was later a convent, and opened as a hotel in 1998. The intimate restaurant, with Tuscan-red walls, showcases international cuisine. Breakfast is served out on the terrace in the summer. The garden, a restoration of the original landscaping, leads to the lagoon, where the hotel maintains its own boat launch. Complimentary shuttle-boat service is provided between the hotel and the Rialto Bridge.

Insider tip: A 30-second walk away is the beautiful Madonna dell’Orto church. This graceful gothic sanctuary is famed for its enormous paintings by the 16th-century artist Tintoretto, who lived nearby and was buried here.

Giardino di Luca Restaurant - This intimate restaurant has exposed beams, Tuscan-red walls, conical lights, silver plates, and candleholders of Murano glass. The menu is international, with an emphasis on Venetian specialties. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Outdoor dining on the terrace is available in warmer months.

American Bar - Open from midday to late night, the bar serves coffee, tea, snacks, and drinks, including six types of whiskey. Behind the bar is a display of multicolored Murano goblets.

The hotel was very nice but quite expensive a bit out of the way (20-30 minute walk to St. Mark's Square). In addition, the retaurant was totally overpriced.
